Oblivion Remasteredcomes complete with two DLC expansions from the original game, including theKnights of the Ninequests. Starting this DLC can be a little tricky, since the first quest in the line doesn’t give you clear quest markers for each step of getting started. It’s also not clearly marked as the beginning of the DLC quest line, so you may not know based on the adventure hook that this is how to start.

TheKnights of the Ninequest line gives you an armor setthat can scale to your level by placing it on a special armor stand. It’s also an interesting story that gives you some insight into the history of theElder Scrollsworld. If you’re interested in the gear, or just want to check out a fun quest line, you’ll need to know how to get started. We also have a guide forstarting theShivering IslesDLCif you want to get started on both expansions.

How To Start The Knights Of The Nine DLC

The Knights Of The Nine DLC Is Started With The Pilgrimage Quest In Anvil

To start the first quest in theKnights of the NineDLC’s quest line, you will need to travel to Anvil. Once there, approach the Chapel of Dibella. A guard may tell you that there has been an attack inside, or you may have heard about the attacks from someone else in town if you’ve been there before. For me, it happened when I was talking to members ofthe Fighters Guildin Anvil, and one of them mentioned that the Chapel had been attacked.

Whenever you learn about the attacks, you will get thePilgrimagequest added to your journal. Following the marker will bring you to the Chapel of Dibella, but it won’t actually lead you to where you need to go to start the quest. There is nothing specific inside the Chapel that you need to see or find to start the quest, so once you’ve observed the ominous scene inside, come back out.Across from the Chapel’s main entrance, you’ll see an NPC called the Prophetwho is loudly speaking about the attack.

Talk to the Prophet and ask him about the attack. He will tell you a story about an evil king named Umaril being responsible, and that the only way to stop him is to find the Relics of the Crusader. To start the mission, volunteer to find the Relics. When the Prophet asks why you’re worthy, tell him you don’t know. Any other answer and he’ll dismiss you, but you’re able to try the conversation again until you pick the right answer. Once you’ve said the right thing, the Prophet will give you a map marked with nine sites.

How To Find The Wayshrines In Oblivion

Use The Map From The Prophet And Compare It To Your World Map

You are tasked with locating these nine Wayshrines by comparing the map the priest has given you to your world map. To make this easier,I recommend adding a shortcut to the map item, so you don’t have to keep going to your inventoryevery time you want to check it. Put a waypoint on the map as close to one of the sites on the other map as possible, then head there. I recommend looking at the bends in the roads or rivers on the Prophet’s map, as they make for good landmarks while placing your own waypoints.

The shrines you’re looking for aren’t points of interest on the world map, so you’ll need to keep an eye out for them. They all look the same, a round stone table inside a circle of pillars. They all stand out pretty well in the areas they’re located, and I’ve also included images of some above so you can see what you’re looking for. When you find the Wayshrine, approach it, and you will be prompted to activate it. Once you do, you’ll be told you need to continue your penance, and then your quest will be updated.

When your quest updates,it’s worth checking that the name of the altar in your journal matches the one on the map. My game glitched and considered the Wayshrines of Arkay and Mara as Talos and Akatosh. I didn’t realize this right away, and had to backtrack to visit these shrines a second time after going to the rest. I just saved and reloaded my game, and it made the first two shrines I visited count for the right Divines, so if you’re experiencing this glitch, try saving and restarting to see if that helps.

Once you’ve visited all the Wayshrines, you will be met by the ghostly figure of Pelinal Whitestrake, who will lead you further on your quest. The next quest in the DLC quest line has quest markers to guide you, so you should be able to follow the game from here out and find where you’re going. It can just be a bit tricky getting started, since the first quest doesn’t give you much guidance until you get the map.

Can You Play Oblivion Remastered’s DLC After The Main Quest?

Oblivion Remastered Allows You To Play Most Quests After Finishing The Story

Completing the main quest ofOblivion Remasteredchanges some aspects of the world, and makes at least one quest unplayable. Luckily, this isn’t the case for theKnights of the NineDLC quest line. You can feel free to finish the main game, and then go back and play these, or most other quests.

Although you can play this quest last, I did appreciate doing at least the Pilgrimage quest early on in the game. I decided to walk between the Wayshrines instead of fast traveling, and it helped me fill in a lot of points of interest on my map for later. Strolling around most of the map was also a great way to appreciate thebeautiful update to the graphicsdone inOblivion Remastered.
