Anime fans all over the world are familiar with the influence and success of the deeply belovedNarutofranchise. This incredible series, created by the talented Masashi Kishimoto, transports audiences to a world where ninjas battle for peace and order. Over the last few decades, the titular protagonist and his family have tried to make their home a better place.
Lamentably, as a large part of the fandom might be aware, the sacrifices and achievements of the Uzumaki family were erased from history in the blink of an eye during the ending of theBorutomanga. To fulfill Kawaki’s desire to take his brother’s place in history,Eida’s Omnipotence, the franchise’s most broken Jutsu, erased the heroes’ progress.

Boruto’s Ending Undid Much of Naruto’s Progress
Kawaki Stripped the Uzumaki Family of Their Legacy
Throughout its more than 2 decades of history, theNarutofranchise has closely followed the story of the Uzumaki family, one of the most important and strongest clans in the series. While the original manga began as the quest of the titular protagonist looking to become a ninja worthy of respect, it quickly morphed into a memorable philosophical adventure.
Naruto and Boruto sacrificed much to keep their world safe from danger, putting their lives on the line to keep nefarious ninjas and thepowerful members of the Otsutsuki clanin line. Without them, the Shinobi World would have been destroyed long ago. Yet, despite all their efforts, they were unable to prevent a shocking enemy from taking it away.

In what many fans consider one of the most controversial and risky decisions inShōnen Jump’s history, Naruto’s legacy was virtually erased due to the selfish desires of Kawaki. The Uzumaki’s adoptive son wishes to change places with Boruto, to be the true child of his idol and pass the blame for his crimes on to his brother.
Fans Are Still Unsure About How To Feel About This Decision
Eida’s Powers and Their Consequences Are as Divisive Among Readers as Ever
When chapter #79 of theBorutomanga was released, opinions among fans quickly flooded the internet. While some readers liked the bold decision to effectively remove Naruto from the story, bymaking the world believe he had died, and creating a pariah of his son, many others were unsure how to feel. Kawaki’s actions signified more than a new arc beginning.
By gaining control over the world’s memories and changing places with Boruto, the cyborg was able to manipulate everyone as he pleased. People saw him as the virtuous son of their savior, a brave warrior who fought hard to maintain his family’s legacy. Kawaki became the new symbol of hope, despite being the cause of Naruto’s disappearance.

Although undoubtedly an interesting direction for the story, many fans feel like this choice undermined everything the Seventh Hokage worked to build. Worse of all, Boruto as a character was effectively erased from the story, becoming nothing but a dangerous criminal in the minds of the people he once helped and inspired.
Two Blue Vortex Has Somewhat Addressed These Issues
Fans Have Learned To Accept This New Reality
Several months after the controversial release ofBorutochapter #79,Shōnen Jumpmagazine began publishing the long-awaited continuation of the story,Two Blue Vortex. This series has become quite popular among fans of the original, with a promising plot, mature characters, and some of themost powerful villains inBoruto.
One of the main reasons why the series is so successful amongNarutofans is its clear objective of finding a way to reverse the effects of Eida’s Omnipotence and restore Boruto’s name.

The sequel has taken the divisive ending of theBorutomanga and transformed it into a fascinating concept, as Eida’s god-level Jutsu has become the main force behind the series. Even though the manga is still in its early stage, with the first few arcs having recently ended, most readers have been pleased with the direction it is taking.
One of the main reasons why the series is so successful amongNarutofans is its clear objective of finding a way to reverse the effects of Eida’s Omnipotence and restore Boruto’s name. The cyborg herself has seemingly changed sides, electing to support the titular protagonist in his quest rather than his unpleasant adoptive brother.
Naruto’s World Will Sadly Never Be the Same
Even After the Heroes Win, the Damage Could Never Be Completely Undone
Despite how much fans have come to love the story ofBoruto: Two Blue Vortex, the series has lamentably confirmed that the damage caused by Kawaki will never be truly healed. A big example of this comes in the form of Shikamaru, the Eighth Hokage andone of the darkest leaders Konohahas ever seen.
The Nara clan’s head once worked side by side with Naruto to make their world and village a better place for everyone. Still, with his old friend gone and the world in disarray, Shikamaru fell into a pit of despair, adopting ideas that his predecessor would never accept, such as sacrificing his allies.
Naruto’s world has gone through a major shift due to Kawaki’s selfishness and paranoia, one that has left a mark that will never be erased. When the heroes inevitably triumph and restore the status quo, they will once again be forced to work hard to help the other Hidden Villages recover the hope they lost during these trying times.
