It seems like there might be aPlayStationevent coming in June, according to some industry insiders. The last major PlayStation event was theFebruary State of Playearlier this year, where we got a first look at several remasters, DLC forDive the Diver, a release date forMetal Gear Sold Delta: Snake Eater, and the announcement ofSaros, a new IP from theReturnalstudio, Housemarque, which will star actor Rahul Kohli. Since then, it’s been relatively quiet on the PlayStation front, but it seems like this is the calm before the potential storm.

According to a statement made by Jeff Grubb during an episode of the Game Mess Morning series fromGiant Bomb, there will likely be a PlayStation event in June, and it is likely a State of Play, and not a big showcase (viaVGC).

According to Grubb, PlayStation had not decided if it would hold its PlayStation Showcase or opt for a smaller show instead until recently, with Grubb saying:“I said a couple of months ago that I heard that they were discussing going back and forth about doing a Showcase or a State of Play, sounds like they probably settled on a State of Play."

How Likely Is A June State Of Play?

A June Event Would Make Sense

While nothing has been confirmed by PlayStation or Sony,Grubb has a solid track record for predicting major events in the industry. Recently, he predicted the announcement andshadow-drop ofThe Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remasteredabout a week before the reveal became official. However, Grubb is also noting that his sources within PlayStation seem to be less willing to discuss the event, saying:“They are being very guarded."

The lack of concrete information and sources being more defensive than usual is leading Grubbs to believethere could be a major announcement at the event, saying:“That is not based on anything other than it was abnormally difficult to squeeze the information out. and the fact that no one else is really hearing about it yet makes me think’s like they are really locking things down.“He added that his sources being quiet could also mean nothing, stating:”…maybe they do have something cooking, or maybe this is just a new initiative from PlayStation that has nothing to do with the content."

What’s Coming From PlayStation This Year?

There’s Quite A Lot Coming And Not A Lot Of Information

There are stillquite a few big PlayStation releases coming this year, some of which we have little information on.Ghost of Yoteiis releasing on October 2, and while we have new story details, we have barely seen any gameplay of the highly anticipated follow-up toGhost of Tsushima.Death Stranding 2: On the Beachis set for release on June 26, and recently had a massive preview event, so a launch trailer or additional announcement could come, too.

The event has not been confirmed, but it seems likely given Grubb’s track record, but with Summer Game Fest scheduled for June 6, and the2025 Xbox Games Showcase set for June 8, it seems like if there is aPlayStation event in June, it would probably be in mid-late June if it happens. Hopefully, we’ll get confirmation about the event soon, and maybe there is a big announcement in store fromPlayStation.
