Pokemon GOplayers who love walking long distances to hatch Pokemon and earn extra Candy are in for a big surprise change. Although there’s no clear event tie-in just yet, it sounds like Niantic is making a big change to7km Eggsto put a spotlight on Fossil Pokemon.

Trainers who have been followingEgg rotations in the pastare likely aware that this breaks the usual pattern of 7km Eggs. The 7km slot was originally reserved for Alolan Pokemon, but that has changed quite a bit since the Gifting feature originally rolled out. This latest change toPokemon GO’sEgg rotation definitely brings some interesting hatches into the metagame.

The new focus on Fossil Pokemon adds Omanyte, Kabuto, Aerodactyl, Lileep, Anorith, Cranidos, Shieldon, Tirtouga, and Archen to the 7km Egg pool and removes all the other Pokemon from it. Many of these Pokemon have a decent use case in thePokemon GOmetagame, so trainers are likely at least fairly excited to see this temporary change.

“It appears something strange has happened with the Eggs you may receive from Gifts: 7 km Eggs are now hatching only fossil Pokémon!

Here’s what we know so far.

The fossil Pokémon Omanyte, Kabuto, Aerodactyl, Lileep, Anorith, Cranidos, Shieldon, Tirtouga, and Archen are now the only Pokémon hatching from 7 km Eggs.

These fossil Pokémon will no longer be hatching from 2, 5, and 10 km Eggs.

Riolu will now be hatching from 10 km Eggs.
