Just outside the Shinjuku Station in Tokyo, an impressive 3D billboard ad can be seen that is promoting the upcoming launch ofPokemon Scarlet and Violet. With the games less than a week from release, The Pokemon Company has pumping up its marketing efforts. This includes things like gameplay trailers to even a set oflottery prizes based onPokemon Scarlet and Violet. One of the more impressive ads that the company has put out involves a 3D billboard that can be found in Japan.
This billboard can be found just outside of the Shinjuku train station and is able to convey 3D images. It does this by being an L-shape that curves around the corner of a building. There have been several video games and other media that have been advertised using this unique billboard, such as a viral video of a calico cat playing on it, orRed XIII fromFinal Fantasy 7 Remakerunning around.Pokemon Scarlet and Violetare following suit on this trend with a 3D video that plays involving the three starters

In a clip posted by poke_times, the official JapanesePokemonaccount, it starts with three Poke-balls being thrown, before revealingthe three starters ofPokemon Scarlet and Violet. They start out leaping into the foreground, before pulling back into the back, almost like they’re standing in the white box that they came from. The clip also briefly demonstrates their type and abilities as well.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s grass-type starter Sprigatito uses its powers to summon a few flower petals around itself, while a grassy background takes over the area. The 3D effect is even used to see the Pokemon stick out forward to emphasize its features, with 3D text also displaying its name, height, and weight. The same is done for Fuecoco, where it does the same thing but with a fiery background, along with it breathing fire instead. It also has the same statistics and text displayed in 3D. Quaxly does the same, where it jumps forward while summoning a watery background behind it, flipping its head feathers in the process. Amusingly, the wave hits Fuecoco in the background during this animation.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violetrelease on November 18 for Nintendo Switch.
