Property Brothers' Drew & Jonathan Scott with serious expressions

In a Reddit post fromOwn-Grocery-8820,fans lashed out againstChasing the West, the Property Brothers' new series. The original post was titled,“The over exposed Property Brothers have a new show,“and stated,“Just what we need another Property Brothers Show… Can they just go away.”

The post also includeda description of Drew and Jonathan’s new showthat read,“The beloved Canadian bros will star in Chasing the West, in which they help families transition from urban and suburban life to ranch life—which is, uh, starkly different for most of the guests.”

In the Reddit thread, many HGTV fans agreed with the original poster, demanding that the network bring back their favorite shows and focus less on theProperty Brothers. Bronzemat sarcastically wrote,“Riveting,“and then added in their reply,“Bring back Bargain Block & Houses with History please!“Heythere_corgigirl77 agreed, saying,“Yes and Farmhouse Fixer!”

Other fans felt that Drew and Jonathan have starred on too many HGTV showsand that their premise is getting stale. Herroyalsadness wrote,“Who is still watching their shows? I did way back but I got so bored. Same designs, same format in different shows, same same same. It’s boring.“The OP added,“They have had at least 10 shows on HGTV. Enough is enough.”

What Property Brothers Backlash Means Amid HGTV Cancellations

Fans Are Upset Their Favorite Shows Were Canceled

Drew and Jonathan have always been two of HGTV’s biggest stars, so it’s surprising to see so much backlash against their new show,Chasing the West. The premise of the show seems different from other series in which they’ve appeared, sohopefully fans who are bored with them will have the chance to see them do something fresh.

The outrage about Drew and Jonathan seems to stem from the fact thatfans are losing their favorite HGTV shows:Farmhouse Fixer, Married to Real Estate, Izzy Does It,andBargain Block. Perhaps it’s not really theProperty Brothersthat fans are mad at, but the network itself. Either way,the backlash could mean that fans won’t tune in toChasing the West.

Our Take On Fans’ Anger Amid HGTV Cancellations

The Backlash Against HGTV Is Understandable

Although I’m a fan of theProperty Brothersandtheir shows likeCelebrity IOU, I understand why fans are disappointed and upset that Jonathan and Drew have been given another series while other shows have been canceled. It’s frustrating to get invested in a show, only to have it get the ax.

Chasing the Westhas a fun concept, butfor some HGTV fans, it can never take the place ofFarmhouse Fixer, Married to Real Estate, Izzy Does It,andBargain Block. Many fans don’t want to see more of theProperty Brothersstars.HGTV should listen to its fans and give them what they want if it hopes to be successfulin the future.

Chasing the Westpremieres Thursday, July 10, at 9 p.m. EDT on HGTV.
