Open-world indie gameThe Pathlessmight not be the most-anticipated launch game for the PlayStation 5, but it may the platform’s biggest underdog. Published by Annapurna Interactive,The Pathlessoffers a unique experience with fast-paced movement and action. In one last ore-launch push to persuade gamers on both PlayStation platforms and PC to check the game out, Annapurna has shared a gorgeous new launch trailer forThe Pathless.
The new trailer, which is just short of two minutes long, covers a lot of ground. It teases some ofThe Pathless' fast-paced movement, where the player shoots at icons in the air with their bow and arrow to run speedily over the ground. They can also fly or hover with the help of their animal companion. The trailer also provides an excellent look atThe Pathless' setting, rich with ancient ruins and shadowed wilderness.

It’s the second half of the trailer where things heat up. A dark presence has come to theopen island setting ofThe Pathless, a presence that brings with it fire. Players are introduced to the villain ofThe Pathless, who names themself the Godslayer. Some of the Godslayer’s creatures are shown, firey beasts with multiple eyes. The encounters aren’t straight forward, however, with run and gun, stealth, and platforming elements mixed in with combat elements.
The obvious strength ofAnnapurna’sThe Pathlessisn’t necessarily its combat, its story, or its open-world exploration, however. It’s perhaps its stylistic visuals that give the entire experience such a unique aesthetic. The world is richly colorful, despite the everpresent cloud cover in-game. When the Godslayer’s fire is shown, the rich red color brings the game to life in an entirely new way.
The Pathlessreleases November 12 on PC, PS4, and PS5.
