While theSpider-Man: Brand New Daystory is still being kept under wraps,audiences have made it clear which villains they would love to see Holland’s MCU hero finally cross paths with in the franchise. One of them is Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. Kingpin, who has been in the MCU franchise for several years at this point.
Rumors have recently surfaced that Marvel Studios is planning to finally have Holland’s Spider-Man battle Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin, as theDaredevil: Born Againactor was directly asked by an MCU fan on X if he could elaborate. However,D’Onofrioshared the following response:
While keeping it brief, D’Onofrio said,“Honestly, I have no idea.“The MCU will see the return of Kingpin in 2026 when D’Onofrio returns as Mayor Fisk inDaredevil: Born Againseason 2, which is set to premiere sometime in March next year.
What Vincent D’Onofrio’s Spider-Man/Kingpin Comments Mean
While it’s unclear ifKingpin would be inSpider-Man: Brand New Dayor in a future MCU installment involving the hero,it’s key to remember that there are complex character rights when it comes to D’Onofrio’s character. As of right now, Kingpin is only allowed to appear on MCU TV shows, as D’Onofrio has spoken about this in the past.
The only way Kingpin can appear in an MCU movie is if Marvel Studios and Sony have finally made a new deal that allows D’Onofrio to show up as Fisk in the films. But given that the focus is completely onSpider-Man: Brand New Dayright now,plans with Kingpin may be something that happens forSpider-Man 5or beyond.
