Sauron gets a major upgrade in a new teaser forRings of Powerseason 3. Prime Video’s fantasy series, which adapts the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, is one of the streamer’s biggest projects to date. It aims to adapt the years of Sauron’s rule over Middle-earth, following characters likeGaladriel and Elrondas they contend with his eventual reign and downfall.
Rings of Powerseason 2 concluded in October of last year, with the streamer renewing the series for season 3 in February 2025. Those episodes ended with Sauron, currently in his Adar form, destroying Eregion and setting off across Middle-earth with his army. The elves, reeling from the battle, resolve to stand against Sauron’s army.
That might prove difficult, though, as Sauron is set to get even more powerful when the series returns. Season 3 has officially begun production and to mark the occassion,Prime Videoshared a teaser with a key piece of Sauron iconography on display, teasing an upgrade for the character, played in the series by Charlie Vickers. The Threat Of Sauron Grows
Sauron has yet to reach the height of his strength inThe Rings of Powerbut this video makes one thing clear: he’s getting ever closer to reigning over Middle-earth. This will lead to some dark days for the protagonists of the series. Though the elves are now aligned with Galadriel’s goal of defeating Sauron, they must eventually unite all of Middle-earth to defeat him.
This includes the Dwarves, the Harfoots, and theembattled island of Númenor, all of whom are contending with their own struggles. Still, the crown in the video is likely to excite regardless, considering it’s one of the most iconic images associated with theLord of the Ringsvillain, and it means that the series is one step closer to reaching its tragic and epic conclusion.

The New Episodes Must Take A Step In The Right Direction
As Adar, Sauron spent much of his time in Eregion duringRings of Powerseason 2, seducingCelebrimborand the elves to help him create the titular rings. Now that that key step of his journey is out of the way,Rings of Powercan barrel full force into many other aspects of the story, including the fall of Númenor, in which Sauron plays a key role.
This could lead to a better pace for the series, which reportedly has a five-season plan that will culminate in the epic battle first teased in the opening sequence of Peter Jackson’s firstLord of the Ringsmovie,The Fellowship of the Ring. As the series inches closer to these moments, the excitement is sure to build andRings of Powermay yet find a rhythm that could help it continue to excel as one of the most compelling fantasy series on television today.
