Warning! SPOILERS For And Just Like That Season 3, Episode 5, “Under The Table”
Sex and the City’s revival show introduced a life-threatening story for Harry (Evan Handler) and Charlotte (Kristin Davis), butAnd Just Like Thatalready gave us some good news about the York Goldenblatts. Things have been relatively smooth sailing for Charlotte inAnd Just Like Thatseason 3. The mother, mostly caught up in B-plots, bounced from one frivolous storyline to the next untilAnd Just Like Thatseason 3, episode 5. In “Under the Table,” Harry reveals that he has prostate cancer, rocking the Goldenblatt family irrevocably.

Charlotte’s children, Rock (Alexa Swinton) and Lily (Cathy Ang), don’t know about their father’s illness yet, since Harry requested that his partner keep his diagnosis a secret. Charlotte is kind enough to respect her husband’s wishes, but not without added stress. At the same time,And Just Like That’s other characters, Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), battle personal journeys that now feel trivial in comparison to Charlotte’s adversity. Still, there’s one promising development thatAnd Just Like Thatrevealed during filming.
There’s A Funeral In And Just Like That, But It’s Probably Not Harry Goldenblatt’s
Harry Is Pictured Attending AJLT Season 3’s Funeral
Harry’s cancer story might not have a tragic ending after the husband’s revelation that prostate cancer has a high survival rate and that the lawyer caught his illness in its early stages. Additionally, whenAnd Just Like Thatwas filming season 3 in New York, onlookers reportedly witnessed the cast ofAnd Just Like Thatshooting a funeral scene, with Carrie and her friends standing on the street dressed in their finest black attire. Naturally, the scene created a buzz that there would be afuneral inAnd Just Like Thatseason 3. That said, the gathering isn’t for Harry.
Goldenblatt’s cancer diagnosis, combined withAnd Just Like Thatseason 3’s foreshadowed death, would be an ominous development for the story, except thatHarry is pictured standing with the other funeral attendants in a black suit, suggesting Handler’s character is alive and well. A few key figures were missing from the group, but Harry was included as usual. While the funeral is undoubtedly a sad development for the whole group, it doesn’t appear to be a ceremony for Harry. It’s unlikely the revival show would have two significant deaths in one season, making a severe outcome for Harry less likely.

Still, it’s possible thatAnd Just Like Thatfalsely included Harry on the set to mask his death. Ahead ofAnd Just Like That’s premiere, the cast went the distance tohide Mr. Big’s death twistfrom anyone who didn’t need to know to keep the surprise on lockdown. While extra actors were on set,the main cast referred to Mr. Big with“she”and“her”pronouns, not wanting to give the impression that a leading lad had died. Harry’s appearance with the rest of the cast could just be to throw audiences off, but that’s purely speculative.
Why Charlotte Needed Harry’s Unfortunate Story In And Just Like That Season 3
Charlotte’s Marriage Has Never Faced Significant Adversity
Harry and his wife have enjoyed a satisfying marriage for years, and, unfortunately, that’s whyCharlotte needed a darker story inAnd Just Like Thatseason 3. While she faced obstacles with her children and career inAnd Just Like Thatseasons 1 and 2,Charlotte hasn’t faced true adversity since her divorce from Trey MacDougal (Kyle MacLachlan) inSex and the City,or her struggle to have children, which ultimately led to her and Harry adopting Lily. With her story having all but plateaued in the revival, York needed to pull more weight.
Harry’s battle with cancer raises the stakes for Charlotte in And Just Like That, a story promising to carry emotional weight.
While a divisive character, Charlotte was always up to something interesting inSex and the City, and her arc has endless potential in the revival. York requires more challenges inAnd Just Like Thatto create a story for Charlotte that is genuinely compelling, andCharlotte and Harry’s romanceis the place to introduce conflict, since they haven’t faced significant obstacles lately. Harry’s battle with cancer raises the stakes for Charlotte inAnd Just Like That,a story promising to carry emotional weight. Still, spotting Harry alive and well is a good sign of how the story ends.
