Shrinkingstar Jessica Williams has commented on the return of Brett Goldstein for the show’s upcoming season 3. Williams stars as Gaby, a friend, colleague, and former romantic partner of Jimmy (Jason Segel). Goldstein, who also serves as executive producer on the acclaimed Apple TV+ showalso starring Harrison Ford, stars as Louis, the man who kills Jimmy’s wife Tia (Lilan Bowden) in a drunk-driving accident.

Speaking toDeadline, Williams said that the lack of conversation between Gaby and Louis was"important"to her, based on how she believes Gaby would feel interacting with Louis. Gaby was Tia’s best friend, and Williams believes Gaby’s interactions with the man who killed Tia would look much different than Louis' interactions with Jimmy and Alice (Lukita Maxwell). Gaby (Jessica Williams) argues with Derrick in Shrinking Season 2 Ep 11

Them not speaking was important to me, because I always felt like Gaby would feel some type of way about meeting him. I think she would process that differently than Jimmy and Alice’s characters. We also ended up finagling why Gaby has no contact with Louie for that specific reason. All I can say is stay tuned for Season 3, because we do get to have Brett back for those things we couldn’t fit into Season 2. I can’t promise, but hopefully, there’s a really much-needed conversation between Gaby and Louie in Season 3.

What Gaby & Louis' Potential First Interaction Means For Shrinking Season 3

Shrinkingseason 2ended on an almost painfully tragic note for Louis until Jimmy intervened to save him, and provided fans with a different look at a new dynamic between the two. The season was interwoven with Louis' arrival into their lives, spearheaded by Brian (Michael Urie), who delivers one of the best monologues of the series to both Jimmy and Alice about Louis' current state.

While season 2 explored the integration of Louis into Alice and Jimmy’s worlds while they continue to grieve the loss of Tia, notably absent from that dialogue was Gaby.Shrinkingseason 3will allow the exploration of that relationship between Gaby and Louis to continue as Louis navigates life post-jail, and a world that reminds him of his actions.

Our Take On Gaby And Louis' Potential First Interaction On Season 3 Of Shrinking

One of the best current offerings on any television medium,Shrinkingcontinues to meet the Bill Lawrence standard of phenomenal and emotional storytelling layered with dry and sometimes sardonic humor. Brett Goldstein, who excelled as the gruff Roy Kent in another Lawrence property,Ted Lasso, shines as the downtrodden Louis, and the emotional depth the show takes its viewers on is as powerful as it is redeeming for these imperfect characters.

Allowing Williams' Gaby to finally interact with Louis will undoubtedly add another introspective and painful layer to the healing process of theShrinkingcharacters, especially as Jimmy works to help the man responsible for his wife’s death. The first interaction between Gaby and Louis will certainly come with a heavy emotional toll on both characters, but for fans hoping to see Louis redeemed in the eyes of those he hurt, it will be another first step towards it.
