The premiere ofSlow Horsesseason 5is right around the corner, with the book series written by Mick Herron becoming a staple spy thriller for Apple TV+.

Now,Apple TV+has released new images ofDown Cemetery Road, an adaptation of Herron’s novel of the same name. The images tease stars Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson, showing the pair together and apart while seemingly investigating some sort of conspiracy. The Series Is Another Investigative Mystery Thriller

While thecharacters inSlow Horsesare a task force working for MI5, the investigators inDown Cemetery Roadare anything but. The premise of the book seesSarah Tucker begin investigating an explosion that results in two dead and a child going missing. She enlists help from private investigator Zoë Boehm, uncovering a much bigger case than either anticipated.

Down Cemetery Roadis the first book in the Zoë Boehm novel series, a four-book series that Herron wrote between 2003 and 2009. Based on the images, it seems like the premise will be much the same, with Thompson and Wilson playing Zoë and Sarah respectively. It also appears their investigation leads them down paths they’d never expect to traverse.

Cover for the novel

The series images also emphasize the expansion of Herron’s work becomingApple TV+ originals.Slow Horsesis already renewed for season 7, which will adapt the eighth full-length novel in the series. Whileit’s unclear ifDown Cemetery Roadis going to have multiple seasons, its potential for success means it could happen, depending on how its release goes.

The Conspiracy Is About To Unfold

Given the images from the show, it seems likeThompson and Wilson are perfectly embodying their charactersas they jump from the page to the small screen. It doesn’t reveal much about how their investigation will play out, though, with the images instead focusing on establishing their characters as they are in the midst of uncovering a conspiracy.

While it’s unclear if the show will have the same staying power asSlow Horses, it seems likeDown Cemetery Roadwill be very different from Herron’s other adaptation, even if it shares similar ideas. With the series arriving in just a few months, it won’t be long until more is revealed about the case and what to expect.

Down Cemetery Roadpremieres with its first two episodes Wednesdays, October 29 on Apple TV+.
