In just two seasons,Solo Levelinghas cemented itself as one of the most exciting new series around.Solo Levelinghas stood out for a few reasons, including amazing fights, an incomparable main character, and plenty of side characters who add a lot of substance to the series. The anime has adapted about half of the Webtoon/manhwa, leaving many wonderingwhat happens to the main characters after the series ends.
Solo Levelingends in a much different way than most would expect. Jinwoo’s fight against the Monarchs is brutal, difficult, and shakes the world to its very core. Thanks to some much-needed help from the side characters in the series, he’s able to survive, but even that isn’t good enough for the reawakened Hunter. The ending comes in two distinct parts: the finale, and the epilogue, with each covering a different part of the main characters' lives after the series is essentially finished.
15Jinwoo’s Former Teammates
They All Have Much Safer, Normaler Jobs in the Epilogue
Before he became one ofthe strongest characters inSolo Leveling, Sung Jinwoo was one of the weakest. As an E-Rank Hunter, Jinwoo was more of a liability than an asset. He was able to find a (somewhat) reliable group of Hunters, however. He would go with these Hunters to raid D and E-Rank Dungeons so that he could earn enough money to pay for his mom’s medical bills and his sister’s education.
During the Epilogue Arc, Jinwoo’s former teammates are seen with much more normal jobs than they had.Two of his former allies are working in construction, Lee Joohee is working towards becoming a nurse, and Song Chi-Yul is teaching kumdo.
14Thomas Andre
The World’s Strongest Hunter Has an Interesting Career in the Epilogue
In the maintimeline, Thomas Andre was ranked asthe strongest Hunter in theSolo Leveling(as Sung Jinwoo was never formally ranked). He’s the top-ranked National Level Hunter with enough firepower to take down an entire nation.
When Jinwoo uses the Cup of Reincarnation to rewind time by 10 years,Thomas Andre becomes a wrestler instead. He also becomes close friends with Norma Selner, an upgrader in the main timeline who becomes a fortune-teller after time is rewound. It’s a wholesome change for the beastly man that proves he’s more than his monstrous persona.
13Korea’s S-Rank Hunters
Baek Yoonho, Choi Jong-In, and More Have Regular Lives
The strongest Korean Hunters inSolo Levelinglive much safer lives in the new timeline. There’s no magical energy in the new world, thanks to Sung Jinwoo’s efforts. Instead of becoming the strongest Hunters their country has to offer, the former S-Ranks are shown having very normal jobs.
Baek Yoonho is shown as a firefighter, which could be a nod to the fact that he was always butting heads with the fire-using Choi Jong-In.Choi Jong-In is seen leading a business, Ma Dongwook is continuing his life as a judoka, Min Byung-Gyu is a doctor, and Lim Tae-Gyu is a chauffeur for the still famous Lee Minsung.
12Go Gunhee
Chairman Go Played a Smaller Role in the Epilogue
Chairman Go Gunhee is one ofthe coolest anime characters of all time. He’s the Chairman of the Korean Hunters Association and was someone that all Hunters could rely on. His cool head and level thinking were a continuous asset for his Hunters.
In the Epilogue, not much is shown of Chairman Go. Woo Jinchul, the next Chairman inSolo Levelingafter Chairman Go passes, tells Jinwoo that Chairman Go is sick with an incurable illness. Jinwoo heals him with the Holy Water of Life, giving Go Gunhee 10 more years to live. Jinwoo tries to give it to him a second time after the Holy Water wears off, butthe Chairman thanks him for his efforts and passes away peacefully.
11Woo Jinchul
One of the First People to Remember the Previous Timeline
Woo Jinchul is the Chief Inspector of the Hunters Association in the main timeline. After Go Gunhee dies in battle to Sillad, Jinchul takes his role as the Chairman. He’s another calm character that does his best to protect Korea, Jinwoo, and everyone in the Hunters Association.
In the new timeline, Woo Jinchul is a detective. He’s a great detective too, as he’s one of the first people to find Sung Jinwoo and realize that there might be more to the boy than he’s letting on. He’s one of the first characters to remember the previous timeline as well, and eventually, he asks Sung Jinwoo to come be a police officer and use his powers for good.
10Yoo Jinho
Jinwoo’s Best Friend in Two Separate Timelines
Yoo Jinho isthe perfect opposite to Sung Jinwoo. While Jinwoo can come across as dark, brooding, and antisocial, Jinho is bubbly, expressive, and always willing to talk about his feelings. He’s Jinwoo’s best friend in the main timeline, and thankfully, that doesn’t change after Jinwoo uses the Cup of Reincarnation.
There are two big changes for Jinho after the Cup is used. First, instead of starting the Ahjin Guild with Jinwoo,he started a successful video game company called Ahjin Soft.He also married Jinwoo’s sister, Sung Jinah, and became an uncle to Jinwoo’s son, Suho.
9Iron and Greed (Kim Chul and Hwang Dongsoo)
Jinwoo’s Human Shadows Went Back to Their Human Forms
When Jinwoo used the Cup of Reincarnation, he was able to keep all of his Shadows that weren’t people. He only had two Shadows that were previously people: Kim Chul and Hwang Dongsoo, later known as Iron and Greed respectively.
While not much is shown of Hwang Dongsoo during the epilogue, Jinwoo actually meets Kim Chul in person while he was still in high school in the new timeline. The two meet at a track meet, where Kim Chul has an incredible urge to kneel in front of Jinwoo. It’s a hilarious moment in the series that proves that even though he’s not Iron anymore, he’s still one ofthe funniest characters inSolo Leveling.
8Park Kyung-Hye
Jinwoo’s Mom Never Got the Eternal Slumber Disease
Park Kyung-Hye is Sung Jinwoo’s mom inSolo Leveling. She’s afflicted by the Eternal Slumber Disease before the series begins, leaving Jinwoo and Jinah without a mother for four years. Jinwoo’s main goal in the series is to find a cure for his mother, and when he finally does, it’s one ofthe most emotional moments inSolo Leveling.
In the new timeline, Park Kyung-Hye is never afflicted by the disease. She’s able to live a normal life as Jinwoo and Jinah’s mom, and she even has her husband back as well. It’s a great change for the character who suffered so much in the main timeline.
7The Monarchs
It Took Jinwoo 27 Years, but He Single-Handedly Defeated Them All
The Monarchs arethe strongest villains inSolo Levelingby far. There are a total of nine Monarchs in the main timeline, and each of them is stronger than the strongest Hunters in the series. They wanted to destroy the Earth and use it as a power source for their war against the Rulers.
Jinwoo made a huge gamble when he used the Cup of Reincarnation. By rewinding time, he revived all the Monarchs, and because they are celestial beings, they kept their memories from the previous timeline. Jinwoo knew that they would be a problem, sohe entered the Dimensional Rift they were in and killed them one by one over the course of 27 long years.
6The Rulers
Not Much Changed for the Rulers in the New Timeline
The Rulers are the opposing faction of the Monarchs and the only other group created by the Absolute Being. They aren’t shown much in the main timeline, but without their help, Jinwoo would have lost in his battle against Antares, the Monarch of Destruction.
After Jinwoo gets back from killing all the Monarchs in the Dimensional Rift, the Rulers send an envoy to congratulate and thank him. They also informed him about the Titans who would be coming to the Earth; they’re a new threat that Jinwoo and his Shadow Army took care of swiftly.
