Sonequa Martin-Green has hopes forStar Trek: Discovery’s Captain Michael Burnham to someday cross over with otherStar TrekCaptains, naming two specific legendary fellowStar Trekseries leads. Martin-Green ledStar Trek: Discoveryfor five seasons, with Michael Burnham earning her long-awaited promotion toCaptain of the USS Discovery at the end ofStar Trek: Discoveryseason 3. This put Burnham among the lofty stratosphere ofStar Trek’s greatest Captains.
Speaking toScreenRant’s Joe Deckelmeier at Fan Expo DallasStar Trekpanel, Sonequa Martin-Green indulged the fantasy of Captain Burnham meeting otherStar TrekCaptains. Martin-Green’s choices of who Burnham should cross over with makes sense since, like Michael, they are also pioneering Captains in theStar Trekfranchise. Of course,Sonequa also would love for Burnham to go on a mission with all ofStar Trek’s Captains. Check out Martin-Green’s quote below:

ScreenRant: Is there a Star Trek cast that you’d like to cross over with?
Sonequa Martin-Green:Gosh, back to one of your earlier questions about which captain brought me in, I’d be so excited to see more of [Benjamin] Sisko. I don’t know what I’d do. I ended up watching a little bit of everything, and I would also love to see more of Janeway, too, because they’re all such powerful actors. Let’s just have everybody there. I think it would be so amazing to see all the captains come together and have to do a mission.

Why Sonequa Martin-Green’s Captain Crossover Choices Make Sense For Captain Michael Burnham
Burnham Has A Lot In Common With Sisko & Janeway
Sonequa Martin-Green wanting Captain Michael Burnham to meet Captain Benjamin Sisko (Avery Brooks) ofStar Trek: Deep Space Nineis logical.Sisko blazed the trail Burnham followedas the first African American Captain to lead aStar Trekseries. Like Burnham, however, Sisko beganStar Trek: Deep Space Nineas a Commander, and it took three seasons before he received his promotion. This echoes how Michael Burnham also finally became a Captain at theend ofStar Trek: Discoveryseason 3.
Captain Kathryn Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) ofStar Trek: Voyageralso walked so that Burnham could fly onStar Trek: Discovery. While there wereother female Captains inStar Trek,Janeway was the first woman to lead aStar TrekTV series. Janeway was also promoted to Admiral afterStar Trek: Voyagerended, which is the rank she holds inStar Trek: Prodigy.Like Janeway, Michael Burnham became an Admiral, as seen in the epilogue ofStar Trek: Discovery’s series finale.
Our Take On Captain Burnham Meeting Star Trek’s Captain Sisko & Admiral Janeway
There Are Always Possibilities
Captain Michael Burnham meeting Captain Benjamin Sisko and Captain Kathryn Janeway is aStar Trekfan’s dream, butthe possibility is remote. Avery Brooks has not portrayed Sisko sinceStar Trek: Deep Space Nineended in 1999, and he has retired from acting, although fans continue to hope he could be persuaded to return. Kate Mulgrew returned as Admiral Janeway inStar Trek: Prodigy, but a logical challenge is Captain Burnham living in the 32nd century, hundreds of years removed from Janeway inStar Trek’s timeline.
Yet inStar Trek, where there’s a will, there’s a way. It’s possibleStar Trekcould assemble its Captains for an all-star adventure. It might be more likely, however, for Captain Burnham to meet other Captains in some sort of animatedStar Trekscenario. Otherwise,Star Trekcomics from IDW have been depicting dream crossovers that aren’t possible inStar TrekTV and movies. Even if they never meet on-screen, the influence of Captain Sisko and Captain Janeway can be felt in Captain Burnham onStar Trek: Discovery.
