Andorseason 2 concluded without many significant cameos, but viewers believe they may have seen a sneaky cameo of one well-known character fromThe Mandalorian. WithAndorseason 2’s place in theStar Warstimeline, audiences were wondering whether we’d see some of the biggest characters fromStar Warsmovies and TV shows, such as Princess Leia Organa. As it happens,Tony Gilroy almost included a Leia cameo inAndor, but he ultimately decided against it, as he did with Jyn Erso.

This was in part the nature ofAndor. This show intended to set itself apart by both breaking the mold and avoiding direct overlaps with the Skywalker Saga when possible. Ultimately, that madeAndoreven more obviously one ofStar Wars’best TV shows, as it truly felt like something new and exciting inStar Warsand avoided some of the pitfalls other shows and movies have fallen into. Even so,some viewers are convinced they did see a quick, sneaky cameo from one of the biggest characters inThe Mandalorian.

Is That Cara Dune Running With Melshi In The Andor Season 2 Finale?

IntheAndorseason 2 finale, one shot shows someone running with Ruescott Melshi, and while that may seem insignificant at first glance, eagle-eyed viewers began suspectingthis could actually be a blink-and-you-miss-it shot ofThe Mandalorian’sCara Dune. Specifically, viewers have called out the character’s armor and the color of her belt and pants as oddly similar to Cara’s inThe Mandalorian. This was among the Easter eggsScreenCrushpointed out in theirAndorseason 2 roundup (at the 24-minute mark).

Of course, this is only a very quick shot, and seeing the character from behind with just a few seemingly identical clothing items isn’t a lot to go off of. This timeline would make sense for Cara Dune, though. The Mandaloriantimelinesets the show approximately a decade after these events inAndorseason 2, so it’s easy to imagine that Cara could have been on Yavin 4 during this scene and landed where she was inThe Mandalorian. This would also resolve a major Cara Dune question that lingers even years after she last appeared inThe Mandalorian.

Cara Dune Being On Yavin Would Explain Her Surviving Alderaan’s Destruction

This Gives Cara’s Story Some Clarity

It’s long been known that Cara Dune is from Alderaan, andwhile there are a number of possible explanations for how Cara survived Alderaan’s destruction by the Death Star,Star Warshas yet to give one. This would be a very easy way forStar Warsto answer this question, as Cara could already have been on Yavin by the time Alderaan was destroyed. Particularly given how close theAndorseason 2 finale is toA New HopeintheStar Warstimeline, this would completely make sense.

In a way, this would actually make Cara Dune’s connection to Alderaan even more tragic. Were this the case, she, not unlike Leia, would already have been entirely dedicated to the fight against the Empire, only for her planet (and presumably nearly everyone she loved) to be destroyed. In addition to fleshing out Cara’s background and answering this question, confirmation that this was in fact her on Yavin 4 would solidify her role in theStar Warsfranchise in a new way.

This Helps Give Cara Dune A Legacy

Having Cara Dune On Yavin Connects Her Story In A Way That May Never Happen Otherwise

If this was a Cara Dune cameo inAndorseason 2, it would cement her role in the franchise in a new way. This is particularly noteworthy in light of the character’s uncertain future inStar Wars. Thus far, Cara Dune, portrayed by Gina Carano, has only appeared in the first two seasons ofThe Mandalorian. She was notably absent from season 3, andCarano’s canceledStar Warsshow,Rangers of the New Republic, is unlikely to ever be resurrected. This cancelation and Carano’sMandalorianseason 3 absence both came on the heels of Carano being let go by Disney.

Specifically, a series of social media posts by Carano stirred up enough controversy that many began calling on Disney to fire her, primarily via the hashtag #FireGinaCarano. Ultimately, Lucasfilm released the following statement on the matter:

“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”

There is actually an ongoing lawsuit, brought on by Carano, regarding this termination.

The circumstances surrounding Carano being let go aside, this matter has left Cara Dune’s future inStar Warsunclearto say the least, and it feels doubtful at this time that we will ever see her on screen again. This possible cameo inAndorwould therefore have been a nice way forStar Warsto connect Cara to another story without requiring Carano’s return. It’s unlikely we will get confirmation regarding whether this was Cara Dune, but it’s possible thatAndorseason 2 had a shocking (and easy to miss) cameo from this major character inThe Mandalorian.
