The Bearstar Molly Gordon has shared an update regarding season 5, following rumors of an unprecedented delay. The Bearwas officially renewed for season 5less than a week after season 4 premiered on Hulu. Though the latest season once again divided audiences and critics, the kitchen chaos we’ve all learned to love will return once more.

There are major changes on the horizon, though, with Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) announcing his retirement from the restaurant businessinThe Bearseason 4finale and Sydney (Ayo Edebiri), Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), and Natalie (Abby Elliott) becoming joint partners to (hopefully) secure the restaurant’s future.

During an interview withScreenRant’s Liam Crowley for her upcoming dark romantic comedy,Oh, Hi!, Gordon, who plays Carmy’s love interest andBerzatto family friend Claire onThe Bear, shared how she and the other cast members discovered the show had been renewed for season 5.

Liam Crowley: I want to talk to you about The Bear really quickly. I know that season 4 just wrapped up. We had the finale a couple of days ago, and congrats on the renewal last week. Do you know when you start season 5 production?

Molly Gordon: No, we all just heard about the renewal with everyone else. An email went out like an hour before, so we’re all really excited, and it’s a great thing to be a part of.

Though Gordon’s comments don’t reveal any particular behind-the-scenes scheduling details, the fact that the cast found out the show had been renewed at roughly the same time as the rest of the world could potentially indicate thatThe Bearseason 5 will not premiere in June 2026. It is still slated to premiere next year, however.

BeforeThe Bearwas renewed for season 5, a detailed report published byVarietyindicated thatThe Bear’s renewal and potential production schedule hinged on the availability of its leading stars, all of whom are more in-demand than ever.

Moss-Bachrach is about to be launched as a member of Marvel’s first family, White is set to portray rock legend Bruce Springsteen in an Oscar-ready biopic, and Edebiri is slated to play opposite Julia Roberts in Luca Guadagnino’s next film. Getting them all and the rest of the cast in the same room together for an extended period won’t be easy.

It was also reported that the scripts forThe Bearseason 5 had yet to be written, though progress could have been made on that front. This is a stark contrast to the development of the show’s last two seasons, which were filmed back-to-back.

Our Take On The Bear Season 5

It Feels Like The Beginning Of A New Era

After Carmy’s major revelations, he can finally begin to heal. As Carmy heals, the restaurant can, too, with Richie, Natalie, and Sydney steering the ship at a more manageable, financially responsible pace. We might be leaving the chaos thatThe Bearis so well-known for behind, but this show has always been about growth and change. That chaos wasn’t sustainable; not for the story or the characters.

The Beef became The Bear. The Bear will change leadership, and then, who knows? The Bear might be able to attain that Michelin star. Whatever Carmy does next – his unknown journey should be a major part of the upcoming season – it’ll be interesting to see how his impending departure affects the rest of the staff. Sydney’s development as a chef, especially, is something to watch out for.

We may or may not have to wait a little longer forThe Bearseason 5, but at least we’ll know we’ll be back in that sleek kitchen before long.

Seasons 1-4 ofThe Bearare now available to stream on Hulu and Disney+ internationally.
