Dragon Ball: The Breakersis a game that, on the surface, feels like someone’s fever dream with the way it blends such contrasting concepts. Who would’ve thought thatDBZfans would ever get aDead by Daylight-inspired PvP game in which7 players all fight against one player-controlled boss character?

These boss characters or “Raiders” as they’re called in the game are iconic villains from the franchise and each one has unique gimmicks, attacks, and transformations that individualize them. And, as players use a specific Raider more, they level up and gain skill points which can be used to “upgrade” their abilities. So, let’s go over which Skills are the best to upgrade first on each Raider (of which more are assuredly coming in Season 2) inDragon Ball: The Breakers.
9Cell: Life Absorption
Each of the three Raiders in the game has their own Passive Skill that helps them gain more Evolution Energy. For Frieza it’s killing Namekians and/or getting hurt and for Majin Buu it’s suctioning energy from players with Yamu and then turning them into candy.
And for Dr. Gero’s perfect creation Cell it’s Life Absorption. This Skill is one that gives him more Energy from absorbing humans, both Civilians and Survivors alike. And, considering how weak Cell is as a Larva and how unstoppable he is even at Stage 3, reducing the amount of Evolution Energy he needs to gather even just a bit can make a big difference.

8Cell: Ki Detection
It’s funny, there’s also a Passive Skill for Survivors called Ki Detection that isn’t at all worth upgrading. But, Cell’s variant works a little differently as it’s an Active Skill he uses to sense the Ki of anyone nearby.
Cell doesn’t have Zarbon and Dodoria like Frieza or Yamu like Buu has, so he fully depends on Ki Detection. This would be a good enough reason to upgrade this Skill already, but there’s also the fact that upgrading Ki Detection also increases how long the effect lasts alongside the cooldown reduction.

7Cell: After Image
Each Raider has their own unique Evasive Active Skill or Skillsthat helps them out in crucial momentssuch as when all the Survivors have activated their Dragon Change transformations to gang up on them. Cell’s Evasive Skill is After Image, a move he actually learned from Goku in the show where he teleports around rapidly, automatically dodging any attacks during this duration.

Cell is very likely the “default” Raider that developers Dimps used as a foundation for the other Raiders, and as such he doesn’t have many crazy tools or anything like that which has some playersranking him as the weakest one.So, being able to rely on After Image more often since it has a shorter cooldown can help out a lot more than it might seem.
6Frieza: You Really Know How To Piss Me Off!
Like with Cell, the first Skill players should absolutely focus on upgrading to +20 first on each Raider is their Skill based around gaining additional Evolution Energy. Frieza, shockingly, actually has two of these, with the first one being this “Piss Me Off” Skill (as if his innate strengthand telekinetic abilitiesweren’t enough).
The Namekian civilians only ever spawn when Frieza is the Raider, and they function slightly differently from regular Civilians in that they have a high chance of holding Dragon Balls. And, if Frieza manages to find and “Finish Off” a Namekian that isn’t holding a Dragon Ball, he gets a ton of additional Evolution Energy thanks to this Skill.

5Frieza: That Actually Hurt!
This is Frieza’s second Evolution Energy-based Skill and it’s the reason why Frieza players end up getting to Stage 4 with him more often than most other Raiders.
Basically, whenever Frieza gets hurt, he gains some Evolution Energy. So, the more players fight Frieza, the stronger he gets, even if they escape without being executed in theiconic way Krillin is blown up inDragon Ball Z.It’s one of the more subtle but more impactful Passive Skills the Raiders have at their disposal.

4Frieza: Zarbon & Dodoria!
These are technically two separate Active Skills, but they function exactly the same, so let’s just lump them together. Basically, instead of having Ki Detection, Frieza has his minions from the Namek Arc. At any point when their cooldown is up, Frieza can send Zarbon and Dodoria in any direction (opposite from each other or not), and they’ll automatically ping and even fire at players that enter their line of sight.
There are some games where players just get unlucky and they can’t seem to get Zarbon or Dodoria to find anyone at all, so upgrading this Skill so that they can be used more often can be very helpful, especially in moments where certain areas need guarding or a sneaky player needs to be found.

3Majin Buu: Turn Into Candy
And last up there are the Skills for Majin Buu, the Raider that beta players were likely the least familiar with dueto his diverse Transformationsand unique Stage mechanics. Buu’s first Stage as Spopovich is very different from Frieza or Cell’s in that he needs to “go gather energy” and then bring it back to Buu’s “egg” to hatch it into Innocent Buu AKA Stage 2.
And, in Stage 2, Buu is at his weakest. He has no tool to help him find Survivors, no summon to scout or attack for him, and other than Go-Go Gum, no real “tools” to lock down Survivors once he finds them. Therefore, players will want to go from Majin Buu to Super Buu (Stage 3) as quickly as possible. And, upgrading the Turn into Candy Skill should make this just a bit easier overall. Additionally, since this Skill is one of his Passives for Stage 2, 3, and 4, it can also help Super Buu get charged up faster and suck the rest of the Survivors in to finish them off in his Total Absorption arenaand basically guarantee a match win.

2Majin Buu: Angry Shout
Angry Shout is Majin Buu’s very own Evasive Active Skill that he gains from 2nd Stage onward. Essentially, Buu gets frustrated and “shouts” sending out a wave of energy around him that will knock any players away. It’s horrible when used offensively, but if players use it to turn the tables when they’re being ganged up on or stun-locked, it can make a huge difference.

Buu can use this Skill while being hit to interrupt and turn the tides of an attempted melee combo. And, it even works as a way of knocking everyone away from the Super Time Machine. Combine this with Angry Explosion and a Stage 2 Buu can actually fight off Survivors around the Super Time Machine relatively well.
1Majin Buu: Summon Yamu
Players might think that it would be better to put points into Spopovich’s Majin Buu Resurrection Skill once they’ve maxed out all the other Skills above, but they absolutely shouldn’t. At +20, this Passive Skill only decreases the amount of energy Spopovich needs by around 4 percent, which doesn’t actually reduce the number of Civilians he has to absorb at all. Basically, it does nothing and there’s currently no respec function in the game either.
Instead, if players are out of other useful Skills to put their points into, the Summon Yamu skill is a decent option. The more often Yamu is up, the easier it will be to find other players and the more Evolution Energy Spopovich can gain without even finishing people off.
