Warning! This article contains SPOILERS for The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Many theories emerged beforeThe Fantastic Four: First Stepshit theaters, but now that the movie is out, the fact that its biggest theory did not pan out is perfect forAvengers: Doomsday. The Fantastic Four are going to have a major presence in the MCU after their debut. Marvel’s First Family will return in twoupcoming MCU movies.
Those areAvengers: DoomsdayandSecret Wars, which means thatthe Fantastic Four will appear in at least one MCU movie for three years consecutivelyto start their journey in the MCU. AfterThe Fantastic Four: First Steps' ending, there are a few predictions as to what could happen to the team in the future, withAvengers: Doomsdayas their next step.

The Avengers movie should put the Fantastic Four in a key role, as the characters have a major connection to the film’s villain, Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. RDJ has already returned, asThe Fantastic Four: First Steps' post-credits scenesawDoctor Doom go after Franklin Richards. While exciting, the film’s bestAvengers: Doomsdaysetup lies in its failed theory.
The Fantastic Four’s Universe Is One Of The Best Parts Of The Multiverse Saga
Marvel Studios Has To Really Let Loose With The Multiverse
The Fantastic Four: First Stepsdoes a lot of things that I had long wanted to see from the MCU’s Multiverse Saga and the Fantastic Four franchise. In terms of the team, I feel like Marvel Studios was able to putthe definitive versions of the charactersonscreen. Any concerns I had about casting were quickly solved by the MCU movie.
As for the MCU at large, the Fantastic Four movie took notes fromDeadpool & Wolverine’s success in one key way. For a chapter of the franchise that is all about the multiverse, the MCU has surprisingly had just a few projects deal with the multiverse, with even fewer being entirely or mostly set in an alternate universe.

That is the case for the MCU’s latest movie, and that is why it works. The Fantastic Four: First Steps' Marvel connectionsmake the world feel incredibly lived-in despite the fact that the four characters are the only heroes on this Earth. With a retro-futuristic aesthetic, the 1960s-themed movie is a breath of fresh air for the Multiverse Saga, and I want more.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps' Earth Was Not Destroyed In The MCU Movie
All Signs Pointed To Galactus Winning
Before release,The Fantastic Four: First Steps' biggest theory was related to howit seemed like Ralph Ineson’s Galactus would destroy the Fantastic Four’s world. That would make a lot of sense. After all, the Fantastic Four needed a reason to go to the main MCU Earth and take part in the plot of the next two Avengers movies.
WhileThe Fantastic Four: First Stepsshowed how Galactus devoured many worlds before trying to get Franklin Richards, the heroes were able to spare their Earth, showing how capable they are.
It would also have connected to one of the MCU’s 2025 releases. InThunderbolts*’s post-credits scene, the MCU’s New Avengers saw the Fantastic Four’s ship in their universe, seemingly signaling the arrival of Marvel’s First Family in the main MCU. Even with all signs pointing to Galactus destroying the Fantastic Four’s Earth, that was not at all what happened.
Instead, the Fantastic Four — with help from Julia Garner’s Silver Surfer — were able topush Galactus through a rift that sent him to the edges of the universe. WhileThe Fantastic Four: First Stepsshowed how Galactus devoured many worlds before trying to get Franklin Richards, the heroes were able to spare their Earth, showing how capable they are.
How Avengers: Doomsday Becomes More Exciting By Including The Fantastic Four’s Universe
The MCU’s Heroes Can Travel To A Unique Universe
By the end of the film and both of its post-credits scenes, the Fantastic Four remained in their universe.Deadpool & Wolverinedid the same for Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s title characters. InThe Marvels, Kelsey Grammer’s Beast and the X-Men that should appear inAvengers: Doomsdaywere shown to come from the universe Monica Rambeau was stranded in.
Avengers: Doomsdaycan finally do what I have been wanting to see from the MCU’s Multiverse Saga, which is spend a lot of time in alternate universes, allowing fans to see how MCU characters interact with those new realities and the heroes who live in them. The Avengers movie should see Doctor Doom threaten the multiverse, with heroes defending their universes.

The best part of the Avengers movies is the crossovers they allow. Seeing marquee MCU characters likeChris Hemsworth’s Thor and Tom Hiddleston’s Loki possibly visiting the Baxter Buildingand experiencing a 1960s New York City where crime has been pretty much dealt with by the Fantastic Four would surely lead to exciting scenarios. I’m glad this distinct world survived.
Other MCU Heroes Going To The Fantastic Four’s Universe Have Already Been Teased
The Avengers Movie Will Be A Massive Crossover Event
While theThunderbolts*post-credits scene could happen afterThe Fantastic Four: First Stepschronologically, that does not mean that the MCU’s heroes will not go to the Fantastic Four’s Earth. In fact, that exciting development has already been confirmed by the MCU’s boss. Speaking toComicBook.com,Marvel Studios' President, Kevin Feige, confirmedAvengers: Doomsdayfeatures the Fantastic Four’s universe.
According to Feige, the Avengers film is shooting on the Fantastic Four movie’s sets. Feige directly teased how other MCU heroes would come to the Baxter Building, the home of the Fantastic Four, saying,“There are a lot more people in that kitchen in Avengers.“So,The Fantastic Four: First StepsmakesAvengers: Doomsdaymore exciting by not destroying its world.
