The Last of Usseason 2, episode 2 saw Abby lure Joel back to her friends' hideout, with her killing him for his actions atthe end ofThe Last of Usseason 1. This murder took place in the midst of an Infected horde’s raid on Jackson, meaning that everybody was occupied. The Last of Usseason 2, episode 3picks up right where this left off. Jackson has been decimated, and Ellie is traumatized. After a three-month time jump, however,Jackson has mostly recovered. The same can’t be said for Ellie, who leaves Jackson to get revenge on Abby.
Ellie & Dina’s Plan To Find Abby In Seattle Explained
Why They Waited So Long
Ellie really wants to kill Abby for her murder of Joel, although it takes a while for this plan to get off the ground. First, Jackson votes on whether they should send a party to hunt the WLF down. Unfortunately, the town’s council decides that they need to stay home and continue repairing Jackson. Thus, Ellie and Dina decide to take things into their own hands. Dina tells Ellie that she heard some of the names of Abby’s WLF friends before she was knocked out, meaning that they can track them down. Ellie is concerned that too much time has passed, but Dina has a plan.
Dina had heard word of an organization called the Washington Liberation Front, with her deducing that this is what WLF stands for. Since Abby and her friends are WLF members, they also determine that they are based out of Seattle. Dina explains that waiting three months means that Abby probably made it back to Seattle by now, so they know where to find her. Since Dina hasn’t heard much about the WLF,she assumes that the group is small enough for them to take on. Thus, Ellie and Dina mount a horse and begin their trek to Seattle.

Why Nobody Else Joined Ellie & Dina To Get Justice For Joel
They Set Out On Their Own
Unfortunately, Ellie and Dina are on their own. Many members of the Jackson community want justice for Joel, although even more thought that going to Seattle was risky and logistically impossible. Thus, the town took a vote on whether they should send a large party to Seattle. The vote didn’t pass, meaning that members of Jackson weren’t allowed to leave the settlement. Luckily, Ellie and Dina had some help.Seth managed to get the duo a horseas well as food, weapons, and medical supplies, giving them the support they need to make the journey by themselves.
Who Is The Cult With The Face Scars? Seraphites Explained
What Do The Face Scars Mean?
A new group of characters is introduced inThe Last of Usseason 2, episode 3, with it being a group of travelers who have brown robes, shaved heads, and facial scars. Thiscult is known as the Seraphites, with them being a post-apocalyptic religious organization that populates the northwestern United States. The group was first seen inThe Last of Us Part II,with them originating in Seattle. The Seraphites are one of the most common enemies in the second game, with Ellie and Dina encountering them several times throughout their journey.
The Seraphites inThe Last of Usseason 2, episode 3 mention a figure known as The Prophet. The Prophet is the founder of the Seraphites, with her being a fierce warrior who fought the Infected off in the early days of the Seraphite cult. The Seraphites derived their ways of life from her teachings, with them continuing to worship her despite her death. The Glasgow smiles that the Seraphites bear come from the Prophet’s teachings, with them acting as a reminder to the Seraphites of the imperfections of humanity.

Did The WLF Kill The Seraphite Members In The Woods?
Or Was It Someone Else?
In the scene with the Seraphites, they fall under attack. Later, Ellie and Dina come across the dead bodies of the Seraphites.Ellie sees that several different types of ammunition were used to kill the Seraphites, leading to the assumption that they were attacked by the Washington Liberation Front.
This assumption is most likely correct. The Seraphites and theWLF are both based out of Seattle, meaning that they very well could be at war. The Seraphites seem to not be surprised that the WLF is attacking them, meaning that this may be a long-term fight between the two groups. The Seraphites seemed to be no match for the armory of the WLF, so it will be interesting to see how the Seraphites have stuck around for so long despite their inferior weaponry.

Will Tommy Follow Ellie & Dina To Seattle?
Based On The Last Of Us Part II
Alongside Ellie and Dina, Tommy seems to be one of the Jackson members who is angriest about Joel’s death. After all, Joel was Tommy’s brother. AsThe Last of Usseason 2, episode 3points out, if things were the other way around, Joel would already be on his way to Seattle. However, Tommy’s leadership position in Jackson meant that he had to stick around. It is entirely possible that Tommy could head to Seattle later, potentially going after Ellie and Dina.
Interestingly, the roles are reversed inThe Last of Us Part II. Tommy leaves for Seattle the day after Abby kills Joel. Ellie and Dina are sent after him, with the trio eventually reuniting along the way. It could be that the HBO series will haveTommy go after Ellie and Dina, making Ellie the more active protagonist. It will be incredibly difficult for the story ofThe Last of Us Part IIto work if Tommy doesn’t go to Seattle, meaning that this is an expected development in a future episode ofThe Last of Usseason 2.
