The heirarchy of power has changed within the Marvel Universe, as a world famous creature has emerged to not only challenge the greatest superheroes, butprove its might as a Celestial-killer within seconds.
Fans might not know how powerful thehow powerful Celestials really aretruly are within Marvel’s cosmic order, but the die-hards know there are few things mightier. Established as the oldest beings to occupy the universe, Celestials are legitimately god-tier creatures. But forMarvel’s newest threat, they’re as weak as human beings.

Godzilla is So Powerful, It Kills A Celestial in Seconds
Godzilla Destroys The Marvel Universe#1 by Gerry Duggan, Javier Garrón, Jesus Aburtov, Andrew Dalhouse
The new power rankings are revealed in the literally world-shaking first issue ofGodzilla Destroys The Marvel Universe#1, in whichthe Celestial inside Earth’s core is forced awakeby an unknown disruption. Typically, that might mean the end of the world on its own. But whenGodzillafollows, fans are instead treated to a battle of giants.
To call it a “battle” might actually be giving the Celestial too much credit, when a short exchange of blows is brought toa dramatic end when Godzilla rips the Celestials head off with its bare claw. In the process, proving to not only be strong enough to withstand Celestial power, but execute a legitimately god-level act of force.

The moment is historic for this incarnation of Godzilla in the Marvel Universe (compared tothe Godzilla who recently fought Thor to the death). Even for the ancient humans who worshipped the kaiju, seeing Godzilla use its bare hands to slaughter a being who shaped space and reality is a stunning achievement.
Marvel’s Heroes Have No Weapons Strong Enough To Fight Godzilla
The Avengers And The Fantastic Four Are Helpless Against The Killer Kaiju
The miniseries begins with a bombshell, but wastes little time in doubling down on this new Godzilla atop the Marvel Universe (at least as far as Earth is concerned). Leaving the Fantastic Four frozen in place, Thor arrives soon after, proving Godzilla’s defeat of a god was no accident, launching Thor into orbit spouting blood with its opening attack.
Obviously the need to call in reinforcements guarantees more devastating attacks in the issues to come, but the stakes have been set already. And for anyone who wondered how a world of Avengers, Fantastic Four, or evenGalactus-level deitieswould fare against Godzilla… Marvel has delivered a resounding answer.
There are sure to be manyfans who question the controversial feats on display in the first issue alone, from the strength of The Thing’s bite, to Captain Amercia’s power absorption whenfaced with Godzilla’s Atomic Breath. Not to mention the notable absence of the X-Men from this radioactive throwdown.
But if Duggan and co. have decided to offer more than just a fun kaiju crossover, and instead throw Marvel’s heroes up againstone of their mightiest enemies to date? That’s an honor Godzilla fans can be proud of, no matter who comes out on top in the end.
