Though HBO Max’sThe Pittseason 2 is progressing, the show has already lost one of its most compelling stories and one of its best characters. Since theending ofThe Pittseason 1, fans have been waiting for more of the acclaimed medical drama. Luckily,The Pittseason 2is on the way, and it’s even expected to be released just a year after the show’s debut.
Almost everything we’ve learned aboutThe Pittseason 2 has been positive so far. Fromreturning characters inThe Pittseason 2to a tease ofThe Pittseason 2’s July 4th timeline and Robby’s (Noah Wyle) story, everything seems great. One new casting update, however, means thatThe Pittseason 2 is going to have to abandon one of its best and most exciting stories.

The Pitt Season 2 Won’t Pay Off Dr. Collins' Absence In Season 1’s Final Episodes
We Won’t Get To Focus On Collins' Miscarriage, Her Missing The PittFest Shooting, Or Anything Else In The Pitt Season 2
We recently learned thatTracy Ifeachor won’t be playing Dr. Collins again inThe Pittseason 2. That news was also accompanied by confirmation thatIfeachor didn’t quit, but that Collins was written out of the plot ofThe Pittseason 2. It’s not yet clear why Collins isn’t returning in the second season, but it is clear that the show won’t be able to follow up on one of her more interesting plot threads.
Since Collins won’t be inThe Pittseason 2, that means we won’t get a direct update on how she handled losing her baby, leaving the hospital early, and missing the PittFest shooting. The Pittseason 2 could easily have dove into Collins feeling misplaced guilt for not helping with the shooting victims. Even though it would be months after the fact, many viewers wanted to see how Collins reacted to everything.
There’s still a very likely chance that Collins will be referenced inThe Pittseason 2.Collins was an important part of Robby’s shift and his personal life, and even if she’s not there, she’ll likely be mentioned. We’ll probably learn at least what she decided to do after her miscarriage and what she thought of the PittFest shooting, especially since Dr. Langdon (Patrick Ball) will need to be caught up.
Still, just hearing about Collins in the third person is a bit underwhelming.Even if we do get a few updates on Collins' story, it just won’t be the same asThe Pittseason 2 actually featuring her and giving her story the attention it deserves. All that potential that Collins' story had is just gone.
The Pitt Is Also Losing One Of Its Most Impactful Characters
The Pittseason 2 isn’t just missing out on all the stories it set up for Dr. Collins, it’s also missing out on Collins herself. Collins was easily one of thebest characters inThe Pitt, and now she’s just not going to be there in the new season. That means we won’t learn much and Robby’s relationshipor any of the other interesting things about her.
Collins also had some very important moments in her story. For example, now that Collins isn’t inThe Pittseason 2, the medical drama won’t be able to talk about infertility and miscarriages as easily. Collins also highlighted single women who were trying to start a family on their own, andThe Pittwill have to either abandon that or write in a new character to take her place.
The Pitt is just losing out on so many possibilities now that Collins is gone.
Perhaps the worst part of it all is that we won’t get any more endearing moments from Collins. We won’t get emotional outbursts like when she learned she had a miscarriage and opened to to Dana (Katherine LaNasa). We also won’t get funny moments like Collins freaking out about the rats on the loose. In short,The Pittis just losing out on so many possibilities now that Collins is gone.
