The Tim Burton-producedWednesdayseason 2 finally introduces Joanna Lumley’s Grandmama, but there was another frequent collaborator of the director who previously played the role just a few years ago. Despite Burton being well-known for reusing various actors across his projects,Wednesday’s castonly features a few actors who had worked with him beforehand, such as Lumley, Christina Ricci, Steve Buscemi, and Anthony Michael Hall.

WithWednesdayseason 3 already confirmed, it’s expected that the Netflix series will continue to recruit morefrequent Tim Burton collaboratorsto portray new or familiar characters inThe Addams Familyworld. Like Ricci, who played Wednesday Addams inThe Addams Family’s 1990s film duology before stepping into the role ofWednesday’s Marilyn Thornhill, some Burton actors already have prior experience with the franchise.

Grandmama Addams in Wednesday

That happens to be the case for one of Tim Burton’s most iconic actor partnerships, which dates back to 1988’sBeetlejuice. While the actress has still yet to appear inWednesday, she already played the pivotalAddams family memberof Wednesday’s grandmother and Morticia’s mother in the 2019 adaptation ofThe Addams Family, with that role going to another returning Burton actress, Joanna Lumley, inWednesdayseason 2.

Frequent Tim Burton Collaborator Catherine O’Hara Played Granny Frump In 2019’s Addams Family Movie

One recentAddams Familyalum is comedy legend Catherine O’Hara, who also starred in several Burton projects likeBeetlejuice,The Nightmare Before Christmas,Frankenweenie, andBeetlejuice Beetlejuice. O’Hara voiced Granny Frump in2019’s animatedThe Addams Familymovie, with that character being the equivalent of Joanna Lumley’s Grandmama Frump in Netflix’sWednesday.

Considering O’Hara had familiarity with the role of Granny Frump, it would have been great to see her reprise that character inWednesdayseason 2. However, Joanna Lumley’s brilliant performance proved throughout season 2, part 1 that she was meant to play Hester Frump, especially with the variouschangesWednesdaymakes to Grandmama’s characterizationand dynamic with the Addamses.

Catherine O’Hara Would Still Be An Amazing Cast Addition To Wednesday Season 3

Even though the role of Grandmama has been filled inWednesday, Catherine O’Hara would make a great addition to the Tim Burton-produced world. Not only does she already have proven chemistry with Jenna Ortega after they playedDeetz family members inBeetlejuice 2, but O’Hara’s signature comedy style and familiarity with the macabre, kooky world ofThe Addams Familyindicate she would fit right into the series.

After reuniting with Tim Burton forBeetlejuice Beetlejuice, it seems natural that the two would figure out a way to collaborate again sooner rather than later. Hopefully, that next reunion could occur inWednesdayseason 3, even if O’Hara were to only appear in a guest role. Whether playing a member of the Addams family, a new Outcast, or even a Normie, Catherine O’Hara would be the perfect Tim Burton collaborator to bring onto the series.
