Perry has announced the development ofWhy Did I Get Married 3. This franchise originated as a stage play penned by Perry, which focuses on what happens to a family and a marriage when a young temptress arrives on the scene. The movie adaptation came out in 2007 and stars Perry, Janet Jackson, Malik Yoba, Tasha Smith, and Jill Scott.
Why Did I Get Married?saw a good theatrical run, grossing $55.8 million with an estimated $15 million budget. This led to the creation of the 2010 sequel film,Why Did I Get Married Too?This movie also did pretty well box office-wise, making $60.6 million on an estimated $20 million budget.
Taking to social media,Perryhas announced a thirdWhy Did I Get Married?movie,posting the title page of a screenplay manuscript fora movie titledWhy Did I Get Married Again?.He did not provide many other details about the project, simply captioning it with: “I’m just gonna sit this right here!”
Perry did, however, tag several members of the franchise’s main cast. This included Smith, Sharon Leal, Michael Jai White, Lamman Rucker, Scott, and Jackson. While he did not confirm who would be appearing inWhy Did I Get Married Again?, this could imply that the main cast is coming back.
