Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansongis filled with the kind of intrigue and hidden agendas thatits tabletop progenitoris well-known for. One example of this is Richard, Leysha’s Psychiatrist, and Sire, who seems deeply disturbed and angry that Leysha has not yet taken her treatment. Players are given plenty of reason to be suspicious of Richard and of the treatment he wants Leysha to take, and this guide will explain the pros and cons of this decision.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansongis a narrative RPG developed by Big Bad Wolf and published by Nacon. Set in the World of Darkness, in the city of Boston, the game drops players into a dark world of intrigue and scheming in the immediate aftermath of a disaster that threatens the Masquerade itself. The game’s protagonists are Galeb (a Ventrue Enforcer), Emem (A Toreador Club Owner), and Leysha (A Malkavian Seer).

Taking the Treatment

Leysha can choose to take the treatment, trusting Richard’s claims that it is for the best and banishing the hallucination of Halsey from her mind. Halsey will beg her not to go ahead with it, and it can be a little hard to even consider. Nonetheless, taking the treatment at this point will cause Halsey to vanish and grant Leysha the “Moving On” trait, which reduces the cost of her next social attribute upgrade by 30.This can be very useful for strengthening her buildbut comes at the cost of removing the Halsey hallucination from future scenes, depriving players of several unique interactions with her and preventing her from providing assistance to Leysha during the final section of the game.

Halsey Stays with Me

Leysha can instead choose to, understandably, distrust Richard and reject her treatment. This gives her the “Difficult Patient” trait, which reduces the cost of her next knowledge upgrade by 30. This also allows players to continue interacting with the Halsey hallucination in later chapters, providing several additional interactions and even supplying Leysha with aid when it comes to locating Richard in the S.A.D Base. This can be very helpful, though Leysha can still locate Richard by herself with some careful observation and a security skill of at least 4 (or the use of items to temporarily raise it).
