Recent years have seen a number of new releases based on Games Workshop’s beloved far-future setting. Meanwhile,Warhammer 40000: Boltgunblended the exaggerated violence of40Kwith the fast-paced mobility of a retro shooter, taking inspirations from genre classics likeDoomandQuake.

As the game turns a year old, publisher Focus Entertainment revealed at the recentWarhammerSkulls event that its expansion forWarhammer 40000: Boltgunis calledForges of Corruption. It’ll add new stages and more tools to the already-considerable arsenal of thebestWarhammer 40000: Boltgunweapons. The expansion will launch on June 27, 2025 for PC, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and Xbox One. The Switch version of the expansion will launch later, at an unspecified date.

Focus Entertainment gave fans a look at what’s coming in theWarhammer 40000: BoltgunForges of Corruptionexpansion via a trailer. Done in the over-the-top style of classic “boomer shooter” commercials and featuring humorous testimonials from fans, theBoltgunexpansion trailer confirms that players will once again control a member of the Ultramarines Space Marine Chapter. They’ll dive into the depths of a Manufactorum facility and purgethe forces of the Chaos hereticsthat have taken it over. The expansion will add new stages based on the Manufactorum and its environs teeming with daemons.
TheForges of Corruptionadd-on will add several new enemies for players to fight based on the Chaos Space Marines Black Legion. These include the Black Legion Havoc, a Chaos Marine wielding heavy weaponry, and the Helbrute, a Space Marine dreadnought mecha corrupted by Chaos. The expansion also adds new weapons, like the Multi-Melta, a gun that shoots powerful gouts of flame, and the Missile Launcher, which fires powerful unguided missiles. Finally, the launch of the add-on will also coincide with a new addition that allBoltgunplayers can enjoy for free: A new Horde Mode. Like all thebest video game horde modes,Boltgun’s new DLC will challenge players to take on endless waves of increasingly powerful foes.
