Warning: Spoilers ahead for Wednesday season 2, part 1!Wednesdayseason 2 officially introduces Ophelia Frump, another member of the Addams family, but she seemingly endured a tragic fate. Ophelia is not a newcomer to theAddams Family treeby any means, though she hasn’t been directly mentioned in the Netflix show until season 2.

Ophelia Frump is Morticia’s sister, which was also the case in past iterations ofThe Addams Family. In this case, both women are the daughters of Grandmama, aWednesdayseason 2 characterplayed by veteran actress Joanna Lumley. Throughout season 2’s part 1 batch of articles, Ophelia hasn’t appeared, but she has been discussed.

Leading up toWednesdayseason 2, part 1’s ending,Jenna Ortega’s leading character has been dealing with family conflict, specifically with her mother, Morticia. Wednesday and Morticia aren’t seeing eye-to-eye when it comes to Wednesday’s psychic powers, but that makes sense based on what Morticia experienced with Ophelia in the past.

Ophelia Has Been Missing For 20 Years After Experiencing Similar Psychic Symptoms To Wednesday In Season 2

Ophelia Is A Raven Like Wednesday

InWednesdayseason 2, Morticia reveals that her daughter has a lot in common with Ophelia, includingWednesday’s outcast species. When Wednesday suggests that she and her mother are on “different paths” due to one being a Raven and the other a Dove, Morticia counters that “she’s had experience with Ravens,” meaning Ophelia. Wednesday quickly adds that Morticia rarely talks about Aunt Ophelia.

Ophelia has been missing for the past 20 years, and it turns out that she also experienced similar issues with her Raven powers, including the side effect of black tears when overusing the psychic ability. According to Morticia, it got so bad that the side effects of using her powers drove her sister to madness.

Was Ophelia Being Experimented On At Willow Hill?

Ophelia May Have Been Part Of LOIS

At some point in Ophelia’s past, she spent time at Willow Hill Psychiatric Hospital, a key location throughoutWednesdayseason 2. It’s where Tyler was taken afterWednesdayseason 1’s ending, and the location is linked to the core LOIS mystery in part 1. Due to the investigation, Wednesday asks Uncle Fester to get committed there to gather intel.

Though Ophelia spent time there, she apparently “flew the coop,” and her whereabouts are still unknown. Based on what’s known about Willow Hill and the LOIS discovery, it’s possible that she “went missing” when, in reality, she became a test subject for Willow Hill’s secret experiments. Perhaps something else was driving her to overexert her abilities, which resulted in her loss of sanity.

Where Is Ophelia Now In Wednesday Season 2?

There’s A Perfect Role For Ophelia In Season 2

By the midpoint ofWednesdayseason 2,it’s unclear what happened to Ophelia or if she’s even alive. Her fate is still a point of contention between Morticia and Grandmama, who still argue about what the best course of action for Ophelia truly was. Either way, Morticia is trying to prevent Wednesday from going down the same path as her sister.

Without Goody’s book, Wednesday is unable to use her powers, but she also doesn’t have Goody around for help anymore. If Ophelia is dead, it would make sense to introduce the character as Goody’s replacement inWednesdayseason 2, part 2. Out of any ancestor, Ophelia sounds like the best candidate to guide Wednesday with her role as a Raven.
