Some ofWill Trent’s best and most important relationships are strictly platonic, and for one duo, it must stay this way (despite some fans wanting them to be together). The ABC series doesn’t exactly center around romance. Will Trentis a police procedural, not a romance drama, after all. However, like any TV show, it still explores various love stories.

For most ofWill Trent,Will and Angie were the main couple.Their relationship had been set up to fail from the beginning, though, and heading into season 4, he’s single, and she’s having a baby with another man. So, Will and Angie are in the past, but that doesn’t mean Will must find love with the other person he’s closest to.

Will & Faith Have The Best Dynamic In Will Trent

No Other Will Trent Duo Compares To Will & Faith’s Partnership

WhenWill Trentpremiered,Will and Faith didn’t exactly get off on the right foot. Will had just broken open a case that exposed several corrupt cops (which didn’t earn him much favor within the Atlanta Police Department or the GBI), including Faith’s mother. Much to Faith’s dismay, GBI Deputy Director Amanda Wagner assigned her to be Will’s partner in the pilot.

As time went on,Will and Faith learned to trust one another and formed a deep connectionthat is arguably the ABC TV show’s most intriguing. Because of how their relationship began, it was all the more satisfying when Will and Faith got close. That is why they have the most fascinating and entertainingdynamic inWill Trent.

Yes,Will and Faith haven’t had the easiest road in the crime drama. It wouldn’t be much fun if they did. Will and Faith have gotten into many fights, with their most recent centering around Faith’s son becoming Will’s confidential informant. Nevertheless, everything they have gone through has just made them stronger, but Will and Faith must never become more than partners.

Will Trent Can’t Force A Romance Onto Will & Faith

Will & Faith Becoming Lovers Would Feel Forced

One ofthe worst things that any TV show can do is force a romantic connectionthat simply isn’t there. Just because two people have chemistry, that doesn’t mean they share anything but platonic love. And this sentiment applies to Will and Faith in the ABC police procedural series. The twoWill Trentmain charactersare partners and friends, and that’s it.

Will’s relationship with Faith is his most important one inWill Trent, and the show would be wise not to mess it up by incorporating romance into it. However, some disagree. In aRedditthread, fans expressed their desire to see Will and Faith become a couple inWill Trent. One user said, “I think they would be cute together!”

Another fan agreed, “They have all the chemistry, wonder if the show would ever allow that to happen.” A differentReddituser revealed that they had been shipping Will and Faith since season 1, while another admitted that they believed the show would end with them together. Not everyone is all aboard the Will and Faith enemies to partners to lovers pipeline, though.

Some expressed that they only saw Will and Faith as partners and friends, not lovers inWill Trent. And I have to agree, especially with someone who said thatthe two characters give off sibling vibes. If the writers were to push Will and Faith together romantically, it would just feel forced. It wouldn’t be organic, given their history and platonic connection.

Additionally, there are already too many cop shows that end with partners dating.Castle,Bones,The Mentalist,The X-Files,Moonlighting, and many more followed this formula (and even ABC’s newest series,High Potential, is seemingly leading to a romance between the two main characters). Will Trentdoesn’t need to jump on the bandwagon, too.

Both Will & Faith Already Have Promising Romantic Prospects

Faith Met Elijah In Will Trent Season 3

Aside from the fact that Will and Faith don’t share romantic chemistry, they shouldn’t be together becauseWill Trenthas already given them better love interests. Or, well, the writers should introduce Will’s most promising romantic prospect in future episodes. It’s only a matter of time before both Will and Faith get their happily ever afters; it just won’t be with each other.

Will Trentseason 3 featured Faith meeting Elijah, her and Will’s victim’s dance teacher. They hit it off, and Elijah even asked Faith on a date, which she agreed to. Unfortunately, we haven’t seen Elijah since his first and only episode (“Regarding the Death of Whitney McAdams”). Hopefully, he’ll return in season 4, and Elijah and Faith can continue their love story.

Meanwhile,Will has Sara Linton.Sara isWill’s true love from theWill Trentbooks, who should arrive sooner rather than later. Perhaps the writers will bring Sara into the fold in season 4. Or they might wait a little longer. Whatever the case, Will will have Sara, and Faith has Elijah, who are both great romantic prospects for the two partners.

Will Trentseason 4 is set to premiere in early 2026 and will consist of 18 episodes.
