PlayStationfans seem to be quite worried about the future of the console, as a new PlayStation 6 prediction is estimating the console will not be nearly as powerful as many may have previously thought. Discussions about the PS6 have heated up this summer, as Sony previously stated thePS6 will still be focused on “local execution"and less on Cloud services or other online systems. This new forecast, though, is rubbing fans the wrong way.
Originally stated by Digital Foundry’s Alexander Battaglia in a podcast episode, which was clipped and uploaded toDF Clips, Battaglia was asked how much RAM the PS6 could potentially have, and he responded with:“I think they’re gonna have a minimum of 24 [gb of ram], and maybe a maximum of around 24…“This is not, however, a confirmation of the PS6’s RAM, but a lot of commenters are expressing displeasure at the low amount.

What The Predictions Mean For PS6
Could The PS6 Have Just A Marginal Increase In Power?
The base PS5 has 16GB of RAM, while thePS5 Pro has 18GB. The base PS4 had 8GB of Ram, so it seems this prediction is based on PlayStation’s recent previous increases of 8GB for a new console generation. If the PS6 has just 24GB of RAM, it would only bea marginal increase in memory processing power. This is all just speculation, and very few details about the PS6 have been officially confirmed.
Fans seem to be upset about the potential lack of memory processing upgrades. In a Reddit thread byRpdaca, the response is all over the place.

MasonryMadnessis dismissive of the whole prediction, writing:“No one knows anything about the next gen consoles. If they guess often enough, they’ll get “some” details right I guess.”
caballerof09said they were expecting 32GB and mentioned how we already saw 24GB on the market with theupcoming Xbox ROG Ally X.
PS6 Could Already Be Facing A Huge Problem
Another Price Tag Controversy
A big point of discussion for fans is the price tag that could come along with a more powerful console, especially after theNintendo Switch 2 costwas more than most may have expected.
MeCriticbrought up that concern, stating:“The main problem for “not much improvement” is people reaction to price.“If a console uses too many advanced hardware parts, it may cost too much to produce and lead to a sizable increase in cost for consumers.
In a time in which everything seems to cost more, any move that provides an experience players are looking for without breaking the bank is probably the right one. ThePlayStation 6is still likely years away from release, and the market and industry could drastically change before then, so these predictions should be taken as just that: predictions.
