Wuchang: Fallen Feathersis easily one of the best soulslikes to hit the scene this year, and as you’d expect with any FromSoft-inspired RPG, it has some bosses that pack a punch. Nearly every boss in the game requires a unique approach, and it’s especially important to learn their move sets if you want to stand any chance at taking them down.

Warning: This list contains spoilers for Wuchang: Fallen FeathersWhileWuchanghas launched to largely mixedreviews due to performanceissues, the core gameplay is a top-tier soulslike experience, and it has that classicDark Souls 1feelthat fans of the genre have been hankering for. If you’re up for a challenge, you’ll definitely want to dive in and witness the game’s various incredible bosses for yourself.

12Blightweaver - Great Centipede: Grab The Bug Spray

Blightweaver’s Burrow Ability Can Be A Pain To Avoid

The Blightweaver - Great Centipede boss will be the first major test of players' skills inWuchang: Fallen Feathers, and can be incredibly difficult if you haven’t mastered your dodging skills yet. With variousattacks and spells that can’t be Blocked or Deflected, the Great Centipede is all about timing.

In particular, the Blightweaver will burrow into the ground in a fiery ball and pop up underneath you, and if you don’t dodge at the last moment, it’s going to be rough. Further, it’ll come at you with piercing pincers that require some well-timed dodges. There are certainly harder bosses to come, but in my view, Blightweaversets the stage for some of the most brutal fights in the game.

11Commander Honglan: A Proper Challenge

Commander Honglan Requires Deflection Mastery

While you can get away with using basic maneuvers in the boss fights leading up toWuchang’sCommander Honglan, you’re going to need to learn the game’s essential Clash, Deflect, and/or Block mechanics to take her down. Honglan will beyour first true test of fortitudeinWuchang: Fallen Feathers, and is a primer for what’s to come.

Commander Honglan has two stages, with thesecond involving an onslaught of varying moves, including projectile waves and kick attacks. You’ll likely have to die a few times to fully learn the timing.

10Ming General Liu Cheng’en: Cold To The Touch

Liu Cheng’en Inflicts Frostbite & Can One-Shot You If You’re Too Close

Ming General Liu Cheng’enis a mid-point boss in Cloudspire that requires a long trek up a snowy and Frostbite-laden hill. Once you fight Liu Cheng’en, be ready to deal with Frostbite damage, and you’ll want to equip armor withheavy Frostbite and Stab/Slash resistance.

Liu Cheng’en will almost always start the fight with three jump attacks that can be easily dodged, and you can get a quick obliterate opportunity after the final strike if you time things correctly.

As with most bosses, he has two distinct stages. During the second, he’ll swirl up a whirlwind of ice that can kill you instantly if you’re within the radius, so be sure to keep your distance.

9Mistress Of The Night Huang Yan: What’s She Been Smoking?

Huang Yan Will Transform Into A Flying Snow Fox

The Mistress of the Night Huang Yan is another Cloudspire region boss that can be extremely tough due to her ability to teleport and quickly escape your attacks. You’ll want to get behind her and hit her with a charged heavy attack orthe Echo of Dhutanga spell for an Obliterate opportunity. Huang Yan smokes a pipe that can deflect your attacks, though, so be careful.

In Huang Yan’s second phase, shetransforms into a flying snow foxthat will dive at you and deal Frostbite buildup, but can be easily dodged once you get the timing down. Flame/Fire damage and Burn buildup are your best bets with Huang Yan.

8Bo Sorcerer: Respect Your Elders

The White-Robed Elder Is A Big Help Here

Bo Sorcerer is a mid-game boss that can be a real nuisance before you learn her move set. Luckily, you’ll have a little help from your White-Robed Elder friend on this one, assuming you’ve spoken with him in the preceding area. If not, you’ll really have your work cut out for you.You can use the Bone Whistle to call him in, but finding a window to do so might be tricky.

I found that if you keep your distance from Bo Sorcerer at first, she’ll fly into the air for a series of projectile attacks, and there’s a brief window right at the beginning of the fight where you’re able to whistle in the Elder for aid. He’s a good distraction and will aggro Bo Sorcerer to give you an opportunity to run in from behind.

7Perfect Bride Fang Ling: Lights, Chimera, Action

Just When You Think Fang Ling Is Done, It’s Time For Round Two

Perfect Bride Fang Ling isthe biggest challenge you’ll face up to this point in the game. For starters, her first phase is incredibly challenging, and you may not be expecting a second round of attacks. When you see the second cut-scene start for the first time, your heart will probably sink.

You won’t have the same options with the Chimera version of Fang Ling, as it’s an amorphous beast with sporadic movements.

The Perfect Bride version of Fang Ling is a humanoid,so it’s possible to get an easy Obliterate attack, assuming you can position yourself behind her successfully. You won’t have the same options with the Chimera version of Fang Ling, however, as it’s an amorphous beast with sporadic movements. You can, however, stay in close and hit it with an onslaught of attacks as long as you are able to dodge its various swipes.

6Fierce Tiger: Hidden Lightning

Wait Until Round Two To Use Your Whistle

Fierce Tiger is yet another brutal two-phase boss that will put your skills to the test. The first phase is the Tiger form, which ismostly about dodging out of his path at the last secondto stack Skyborn Might. If you get the timing wrong, however, you’re pretty much done for.

You’ll be able to call in help for this fight, but I recommendsaving it for the second phase to give yourself some breathing room. The Sovereign version of Fierce Tiger will employ a series of Lightning and Corruption attacks, so be sure to avoid these as much as possible.

5Bo Magus: Time To Brave The Elements

Bo Magus Uses Spells From Nearly Every Status Effect

Bo Magus uses a ton of different spells that range across just about every element in the game, includingCorruption, Despair, and Fire, and she’ll even summon large golden enemies that swing clubs in a wide circle at you. Further, she will activate a shield after entering her second stage and will teleport next to you to swipe at you with a huge flaming sword.

About halfway through the encounter, she will float up to the top of the map anddrop a massive golden blade that pulses damage and then explodes. There’s a small alcove you can run into on the side of the arena that is outside its range, however, so be sure to use this. Your best bet is wait it out until her shield wears off and get in close for an Obliterate attack.

4Nightmare Demon: Like Looking In The Mirror

This Boss Is A Scaled-Up Version Of Wuchang’s Inner Demon

The Nightmare Demon is essentiallya hardcore version of Wuchang’s Inner Demonthat you face throughout the game whenyour Madness levelshave been maxed out. During the fight, she will cycle through each of the five weapons, utilizing some of the most vicious attacks from various found throughout the game.

You will definitely want to utilize a Block/Deflect skill for this fight to make things easier for yourself (I recommend the Twin Bandits Dual Blades), but it can technically be completed without one.

At this point, you will likely be pretty leveled up and locked into a preferred build, andthere’s no single way to take down the Nightmare Demon. However, two big attacks you want to avoid are the Axe’s projectile blast, which can one-shot you at close range, as well as the Corruption attacks she uses with the Longsword.

3Vermillion Feathers Honglan: She’s Back For More

Honglan Makes A Comeback With Some Advanced Moves

If you didn’t get enough of Honglan before, she’s back with a vengeance as the Vermillion Feathers Honglan boss. This version of Honglan is way more difficult than the previous form, but for different reasons. She has many of the same moves as before, but scaled up significantly and with additional effects as well.

I found Fire damage to be pretty effective against Vermillion Feathers Honglan, and it’s really important to learn the timing of her stab attacks andwhen NOT to attack her. She’ll put her wing up as a shield, and if you hit it, you’re going to die immediately.
