News fromSDCChas givenX-Menfans a new look atColossus' redesign, revealing that a major injury has transformed his body. This October will begin one of the most ambitious event stories ofX-Menhistory, with everyone’s favorite steel-skinned Russian caught up in the fallout.
At San Diego Comic-Con’sMarvel Comics: X-Menpanel, fans got a glimpse at new comics spinning out ofX-Men’sAge of Revelationevent. These included Francesco Mortarino’s character designs for the upcomingExpatriate X-Menseries. The images below - shared on Twitter byAIPT- reveal the X-Men’s aged-up students, their villains in this comic and Colossus' redesign.

The images confirm that during the ten-year time jump between current comics and the Age of Revelation,Colossus lost an arm and replaced it with a robotic prosthetic. This confirms what fans saw on the previously released cover forExpatriate X-Men,below, but with a far clearer look at the redesign.
Given how Colossus has been treated the last few years, it’s unbelievably cool to see him as an actual superhero again.

Colossus Joins Ms. Marvel’s X-Men as a Guerilla Fighter
The Age of Revelation Is Transforming Marvel’s Heroes
Marvel’sAge of Revelationevent will jump ahead ten years into Marvel’s future, where Doug Ramsey’s Revelation has founded a new mutant nation, using his hypnotic voice to corrupt beloved heroes into his followers and enforcers.Ms. Marvel’s Expatriate X-Men are being introduced as a rebel team living outside Revelation’s territory, performing rescues to save mutants who want out from under their despotic ‘savior’ and his regime. SDCC also revealed the solicit information forExpatriate X-Men #2, below:

GUERILLA WARFARE! X YEARS LATER, Bronze, Ms. Marvel, Rift, Melee, and their guerilla flotilla make their way upriver, evading the surveillance of both Revelation and the U.S. Army. It’s clear that their recently-rescued charge Lyrebird is not who he seems to be. And withholding some details leaves his life on the line, as the team approaches the Limbo Lands… and the truth.
For the last few years, Colossus has been a particularly tortured character, being left at the altar by the love of his life Kitty Pryde, joining the lethal X-Force, and finally being mind-controlled by his brother. AsColossus himself recently admittedinHellfire Vigil #1, he’s been acting against his kind, self-sacrificing nature for years (perhaps decades.) It’s therefore incredibly cool to see him become a true superhero once again - a battered rebel taking on an entire fascistic regime.

So far, fans don’t know how Colossus lost his arm, however with many of the X-Men’s most powerful heroes now under Revelation’s control, it’s likely he was simply overpowered by an even more impressive heavyweight, doing the best he can to replace his strength in the aftermath. Injury or not,Colossushas always been a herowho is willing to pay a high price if it saves others - now,SDCCconfirms he’s finally returning to those roots asX-Men’sAge of Revelationbegins.
