Therecent Indie World showcasehosted by Nintendo focused on upcoming indie games that are in development for the Nintendo Switch. However, not all the games shown at Indie World were Switch exclusives, and in fact, many of them are also in the works for PlayStation and Xbox consoles.PlateUpis one such game coming to Xbox, and not only that, but it’s also making its Xbox debut in October through the Game Pass subscription service.
PlateUp’s October release window was confirmed during the Nintendo Indie World event, but a later trailer confirmed that the game is going to be an Xbox Game Pass title. SincePlateUpwill be making its Xbox debut as a Game Pass game, one could make the argument that it is aday one Xbox Game Pass release. However, it’s worth pointing out thatPlateUphas been available on PC since last year, so that muddies the waters a bit.
The PC version ofPlateUphas proven to be fairly popular, though it doesn’t have much in the way of professional reviews. While the professional reviews are hard to come by, those that have reviewed the game have sung its praises, so it seems like it should be a solid addition to the Xbox Game Pass lineup, especially for those looking for anew co-op game to play.
PlateUphas drawn comparisons to theOvercookedseriesbecause it’s a chaotic cooking game that players can play in co-op, but there’s one key way it differs.PlateUpis actually a roguelite game, which proves to be an interesting twist on the formula.
October is a long time to wait for a new Xbox Game Pass game, but the good news is that there should be no shortage of games to play in the more immediate future. Xbox Game Pass adds new games on a regular basis, with April 2023 seeing its fair share of high quality releases. There are already someXbox Game Pass games for May 2023to look forward to as well, so there should be plenty to keep one busy while they wait forPlateUpto drop in October.
