A typical turn inD&DandBaldur’s Gate 3consists of an action, a bonus action, and sometimes movement. As you level up, some classes will grant you the ability to attack twice per round, either as a passive skill or through abilities like a fighter’s action surge. However, if you want to cause some real damage per round, there are several ways to increase the number of actions, bonus actions, and even reactions that you are granted per round.

Taking levels in certain subclasses, such as the Thief rogue, Way of the Open Hand monk, and War Domain cleric, will come with abilities that can give the player extra bonus actions. However, for a more casual player or anyone who isn’t particularly interested in multi-classing and wants a build that is more personalized to their tastes, using and equipping certain items can help you achieve similar effects in battle. Here are all the items inBaldur’s Gate 3that can increase a character’s number of actions, bonus actions, and reactions.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Players Often Neglect Using Convenient Consumables

Don’t Underestimate The Haste Spell

If there’s one thing that lots ofBaldur’s Gate 3players are majorly guilty of, it’snot using alchemy and consumablesto their full potential. My favorite consumable item isTerazul, which is essentially a completely free speed potion.Unlike potions and elixirs, Terazul doesn’t require a bonus action to use, and it will grant the player’s character an additional action for two turns. A character affected by this item will also be granted increased movement speed, advantage on dexterity saving throws, and a +2 bonus to their armor class.

This is a variant of the “Hastened” effect, which can also be aHastespell,Potion of Speed, orScroll of Haste. However, the “Terazul Jitters” effect can stack with the haste effectfrom any of these sources. The main drawback to haste is that you’ll become lethargic after it wears off, but continually applying the hastened condition will delay the amount of turns it takes to afflict you.

TheElixir of Bloodlustcan also stack with the Haste effect, but it overrides other elixirs. This potion grants you an extra action once per round after killing an enemy, as well as five extra temporary hitpoints. you may also create areas of haste spores with aHaste Spore Flaskor grenade, which can be very useful in battle, though it’s worth keeping in mind that these don’t stack with the other sources of haste.

Some Armor Pieces Unlock More Actions And Bonus Actions In BG3

The Gontr Mael And Helmet Of Grit Are Must-Haves In The Later Game

If you’re still not set on the idea of consistently using items in battle, there are a handful of armor pieces you can seek out that can grant you a passive ability to gain more actions and bonus actions.Be warned, though: these are alllate-game pieces of equipmentthat are quite difficult to obtain. Firstly, theArmour of the SporekeeperandGontr Maeltechnically grant extra actions, since a character equipped with either will receive the ability to cast different variants of the haste spell.

Pyroquickness Hat

However, the Sporekeeper’s armor will only provide this to a Circle of the Spores druid, granting characters with the “Symbiotic Entity” condition the ability to spread Haste Spores. This works in the same way as throwing down a Haste Spore Flask. The Gontr Mael is one of thebest ranged weapons inBaldur’s Gate 3, and grants its wielder a spell called “Celestial Haste” with no strings attached, which is an improved version of Haste that won’t cause the lethargic condition.

Meanwhile, theHelmet Of Gritand Pyroquickness Hat grant an extra bonus action under specific circumstances. If you deal fire damage with the Pyroquickness Hat with a spell that isn’t a cantrip, you’ll gain an extra bonus action for the round, but this does come with the drawback of causing you to burn yourself. The Helmet of Grit is generally the superior option, and grants its wearer an extra bonus action if they drop below 50% HP. Reddit userNnmnsPused this helmet in a particularly terrifying build, which allowed them to take five actions and three bonus actions.

One Act Three Weapon Can Grant You An Extra Reaction

The Duellist’s Prerogative Is The Best Rapier In Baldur’s Gate 3

There is only one item that can grant its wielder an extra reaction:theDuellist’s Prerogative. Conveniently, if the wielder of this weapon holds it one-handed, they’ll gain the “Dueller’s Enthusiasm” ability, which allows them to make an extra full-power melee attack. This makes the weapon one of thebest choices for rogues inBG3,as three out of four subclasses don’t have access to an extra bonus action, and they can’t attack twice at higher levels like the fighter, paladin, and barbarian.

The “Save Vanra” quest will only be available if you completed the “Save Mayrina” quest in Act One, butyou don’t actually need Mayrina to livefor the quest to properly conclude.

Lora will reward the player with this item if they complete the “Save Vanra” quest by returning her daughter to her. It can’t be looted off Lora if you kill her, so you will, unfortunately, have to lose thehelp of Auntie Ethel in the final battleif you want the rapier. Something to note is that you’ll have to interact with Lora in the Lower City’s barracks before retrieving Vanra for the quest to conclude properly; otherwise, you’ll miss out on one of the best weapons inBaldur’s Gate 3.
